Audi Philippines has officially started marketing locally its electric vehicle (EV) badge after announcing the arrival of the e-tron.
The local arm of the Ingolstadt-based premium vehicle maker introduced the Audi e-tron GT, RS e-tron and e-tron SUV to the local market following the announcement of its arrival last month.
In a statement, PGA Cars said that it “ushers in sustainable electromobility in line with its drive toward cleaner transport solutions” following the launch of the brand’s EV triumvirate.
The fully electric, zero-emission power plant of the Audi e-tron GT has the capacity to give the four-door grand tourer an output of 469hp (or up to 523 horses in overboost) and 630Nm, demonstrating how EVs can be both fun and exhilarating.
“In its design, the e-tron GT emphasizes our claim as an automotive design brand. With its impressive performance, it offers the most emotional kind of electromobility. And with its sustainable concept, it expresses an attitude,” Audi AG Chief Executive Office Markus Duesmann was quoted as saying.
Like the Audi e-tron GT, the e-tron SUV and RS e-tron GT can travel more than 400 kilometers when fully charged.
The sport utility version of the e-tron, is powered by two electric motors that can dish out 402hp and 664Nm to a quattro system. The vehicle also has a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the New Car Assessment Program for European countries (Euro NCAP), and is also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Audi RS e-tron GT, which has two electric motors powering its quattro system, delivers 590hp (up to 637hp in overboost) and 830Nm — making it the most powerful Audi model ever made to date.
Audi Philippines shared that the e-tron GT, as well as the whole Audi EV lineup, “is built via completely carbon-neutral processes.”
“Audi has accelerated its transition toward becoming a provider of networked and sustainable premium mobility, and forming a part of this initiative is transforming its manufacturing facilities to operate on 100-percent eco-electricity,” Audi noted.
The company is also systematically continuing its carbon reduction program and has already cut emissions of parts it uses for e-tron models during production.
“The company is saving materials and lessening energy consumption in its supply chain and production processes — especially for energy-intensive components like the e-tron models’ lithium-ion batteries. The use of materials like aluminum has been made more sustainable through an ‘Aluminum Closed Loop’ system, which has allowed Audi’s press plant to cut about 165,000 tons of carbon emissions per year.”
Audi said that a product of this program are the 20-inch wheels fitted on certain e-tron models. The aluminum used to make the wheels come from an innovative smelting process that emits oxygen instead of carbon dioxide.
Further, e-tron are offered with leather-free packages as an option.
The seats are upholstered either with a combination of artificial leather and Kaskade, or with a mixture of artificial leather and Dinamica. The two are both made from polyester fibers sourced from plastic bottles, textiles, or residual fibers from selvages.
The carpets and mats are created out of Econyl, a nylon fiber weave derived from surplus fabrics and carpets, and even fishing nets.
“With the e-tron GT — as well as the e-tron SUV and RS e-tron GT — Audi Philippines is undoubtedly bringing into the country fully electric models that fuse style with sustainability, in the process redefining luxury,” the local importer ended.
