For customers taking delivery of the Audi e-tron GT in the United States, Audi USA will offer three years of complimentary DC fast charging sessions through Electrify America.
That will come after the e-tron GT purchase and the customer's activation of the myAudi app, the American arm of the German marque said.
With DC fast charging through the Electrify America network, e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT owners are able to maximize the vehicles' maximum 270kW charging speed, which can add approximately 290 kilometers of range in about 22 minutes.
The five-to-80-percent battery charging performance of the e-tron GT is among the quickest of any electric vehicle sold today, Audi USA said. Electrify America plans to have about 800 charging stations with approximately 3,500 chargers by the end of 2021.
For RS e-tron GT customers, he or she can do some hot laps in a race track near an Electrify America DC fast charger. They can "take a quick break between laps" and have the car charged, and get back to the track without much waiting, Audi USA added.
Credit goes to the robust thermal management system in the e-tron GT, ensuring the vehicle is up to the task lap after lap, with the 20-kilometer Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack in Germany serving as one of its many development sites.
The two e-tron GT cars are propelled by two electric motors sitting between its front and rear axles. Those e-motors fitted in the RS e-tron GT produce up to 637hp and 830Nm, while those in the e-tron GT deliver 523hp and 640Nm (when launch control overboost is switched on).
These are paired to a two-speed transmission that sends power to the Quattro electric all-wheel drive system. Estimated ranges for the swoopy sedans are at 370 to 380 kilometers.
The e-tron GT's track prowess is achieved by its long wheelbase, wide track, large wheels, and a flat roofline.
To give a sporty character, Audi installed a functional aero kit, comprised of Quattro blisters and diffuser at the rear, the two controllable inlets that inject air to the front brakes, and a rear spoiler which extends to two positions.
The fully paneled underbody, and the aero blades wheel design, help the car cut through the air better.
Inside, sport seats are upholstered either with a combination of artificial leather and the Kaskade material, or with a mixture of artificial leather and the microfiber material called Dinamica.
Those two materials are produced from recycled plastic bottles, textiles, or residual fibers. Another eco-friendly material is found in the carpet and floor mats, which is Econyl. That material is made by nylon fibers fully recycled from production waste, fabric and carpet remnants, or old fishing nets.
"(The e-tron GT's) acceleration is incredible and is sure to wow even the most skeptical critics," Audi Sport Head of Sales and Marketing Rolf Michl recently remarked.
Audi Philippines, meanwhile, announced that it will bring the two e-tron GT cars by the second half of this year.
