Those eyeing for the electric vehicles from the Ingolstadt-based marque will have to wait further as Audi Philippines announced that models under the e-tron badge are set to arrive in the country next month.
Contrary to the tip shared to Carmudi Philippines that the vehicles will come in the country in the last quarter of the year, the local arm of the German premium automaker said that it will be bring the fully electric Audi e-tron SUV, the e-tron GT four-door grand tourer, and the dynamic RS e-tron GT by January 2022.
“Accompanying Audi’s “e-volution” — or its transformation into an electric mobility provider — in the Philippines are various initiatives that lay the groundwork for the wider local adoption of fully electric vehicles,” Audi Philippines shared in a statement.
“Among these are the establishment of dedicated service facilities for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. Plus, Audi Philippines is partnering with stakeholders which promote ecologically conscientious practices, and which also advocate for sustainability as the new luxury,” it added.
A five-seater full-size sport utility vehicle, the Audi e-tron SUV is equipped with a pair of electric motors that can deliver a peak performance of 402hp and 664Nm of torque. This also features the electric all-wheel drive quattro system that distributes power between the two axles.
When fully-juiced up, this vehicle can cover more than 400 kilometers (based on WLTP standards) with the help of its energy recuperation system that helps it recover energy when coasting and when the brake pedal is pushed down.
Although they are also fitted with two electric motors, the Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT provide more oomph, demonstrating how electric mobility can deliver an exhilarating driving experience minus the emissions.
The power mill of the Audi e-tron GT gives out 469 horses (or 523hp in overboost) and 630Nm of pulling power. The flagship model RS e-tron GT — said to be the most powerful production car Audi created — has the capability to dish out 590hp (637hp in overboost) and 830Nm.
These powertrains are also fitted with the legendary quattro all-wheel drive system to ensure power is properly distributed on all four wheels.
When fully-charged, both models can travel more than 400 kilometers.
This year, Audi doubled its product portfolio of fully electric models in its bid to accelerate its transition toward becoming a provider of networked and sustainable premium mobility by launching more EVs than conventional cars.
Aside from that, the company increased spending in future vehicle projects and has earmarked sizable investments for electrification and hybridization, emphasizing its clear commitment to electromobility.
“By 2025, Audi aims to have more than 20 fully electric and 10 partially electric models in its lineup. Starting in 2026, Audi will only launch new models that are fully electric. The company will gradually phase out production of its internal combustion engines by 2033, and from then on, all Audi models will be purely electric,” Audi Philippines noted.
