Audi Gives E-Tron Quattro 55 a Little Brother
Audi is set to add another vehicle in its e-tron lineup with the arrival of new Audi e-tron Quattro 50 in the UK early this year.
Since the Audi e-tron was launched, the standard model has always been the e-tron 55 Quattro variant.
Supplementing this, Audi has just released a more affordable version called the Audi e-tron 50 quattro. The e-tron 50 Quattro has a slightly smaller battery and a slightly less powerful motor. The standard 55 version puts out about 402 horsepower with its 95 kWh battery, while the 50 model is capable of producing 309 hp and is equipped with a 71 kWh battery pack. The Quattro 50 has a range of about 186 miles (300 km) and can reach 0-100 km/h in less than 7 seconds.
Aside from the slight power downgrade, the Quattro 50 also charges slower. The Quattro 55 comes with a 150 kW rapid charger, but the Quattro 50 only charges at a rate of 120 kW. Again, not a significant downgrade, but still relatively slower.
'This new version of the e-tron opens up the possibility of driving ultra-economically and with zero local emissions to a wider customer base,' shares Andrew Doyle, Director of Audi UK.
"Our research has shown that on a daily basis many prospective buyers will cover significantly less than the 190-mile maximum achievable in the e-tron 50 on a full charge, so for them this more accessible yet no less accomplished variant makes perfect sense," he said.
"It is also notable for introducing attractive new specification options, including the ever popular S line, that will roll out across the e-tron range in the longer term."
There are three trim options available for the Quattro 50, namely Technik, Sport, and S line.
The Technik option gives the Quattro 50 LED headlamps, 20 inch alloy wheels, and heated leather seats, among other things.
The Sport line is equipped with sportier 20 inch five arm contrast grey alloy wheels, and the seats are wrapped in Valcona leather, along with Audi Phonebox wireless charging.
The S line is characterized by its distinct S line styling and 21 inch alloy wheels, body colored bumpers, privacy glass, Matrix LED headlamps, leather wrapped interior touches and a three spoke S line steering wheel.
While pricing for the e-tron Quattro 50 hasn’t been finalized yet, Audi’s goal of making this the entry level variant means that it lies just below the £71,560 (Php 4.7 million) price tag of its bigger brother.
