Audi RS 3 initiates RS Line's first step in PH
Audi Philippines has just announced the arrival of the first member of the Audi Sport line to mark its presence in the country, the RS 3 Sedan.
Contrary to their earlier statement that the RS Q8 will be spearheading the lineup (more likely due to shipping constraints due to the pandemic), the RS 3 has managed to reach the country first, signifying the arrival of the RS roster locally. Audi Philippines announced last year that they will be bringing numerous models from the high-performance division of Audi AG, which includes the R8 supercar, as well as the RS 6 Avant.
The RS 3 is powered by a turbocharged 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder gasoline engine, voted International Engine of the Year in its class for 10 straight years. The said power mill bagged the awards for the 2.0-liter to 2.5-liter category from 2010 to 2018, and the 150ps-250ps class in 2019 when the awards program adopted a new power rating-based format. It is also the most powerful series-produced five-cylinder engine globally and exclusively used in high-performance models.
Currently, it provides 400 hp and 480 Nm, reaching 0-100 kilometers per hour in 4.1 seconds. For fuel efficiency, it is rated to consume 11.76 kilometers per liter.
This engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission (standard on the new RS 3 Sedan). The S tronic gives the driver options for more fun on the road—automatic mode or adjusted with paddle shifters. In automatic mode, it can provide two drive modes such as “D” for normal traffic and “S” for sport, exercising higher revs for the 2.5 TFSI engine.
The S tronic transmission sends the power to all four wheels through Audi Sport’s legendary quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
The RS 3 Sedan being an RS model, the athletic design engineering shows in its skin with its Singleframe grille marked by the quattro logo, and flared wheel arches take the wider front and rear tracks to match the rear spoiler lip, diffuser insert with vertical struts, and large oval RS exhaust tailpipes.
