Audi just announced that the highly-anticipated 2022 Audi e-tron GT is now available in the US market.
Considered as the spearhead of Audi’s electric portfolio, the electric grand tourer is now available for test drives at Audi dealerships or can be configured at the Audi US website, said the German carmaker.
The 2022 Audi e-tron will be powered by two motors that can generate a combined maximum power output of 469hp, or up to 522hp in overboost with launch control, and 629Nm of torque (639Nm with overboost).
In terms of range, Audi says that a 10-minute charge (charging at 270kW DC public chargers) can give the 2022 Audi e-tron GT about 120 miles while a 22-minute charge can extend the range to about 180 miles.
Audi also says that the all-new e-tron GT’s five-to-80-percent battery charging performance is one of the fastest in any of today’s EVs.
Precise handling and enhanced responsiveness, at all speeds, is achieved thanks to the 2022 Audi e-tron GT’s rear-wheel steering. This system “allows the rear wheels to turn in the opposite direction from the front wheels at speeds up to about 30mph, a maximum of 2.8 degrees, while above 30mph they turn in the same direction.”
The 2022 Audi e-tron GT will be offered in two trims: Premium Plus and Prestige.
The entry-level Premium Plus trim comes with 14-way adjustable heated sport seats, adaptive air suspension, and matrix-design LED headlights with high beam assist.
Audi will also offer optional packages for the premium plus e-tron GT which adds a premium Driver Assistance system, full leather interior with ventilated and massaging seats, and performance package offering e-torque vectoring plus, Black optic appearance features, and Audi laser headlights.
On the other hand, the prestige trim offers the Driver Assistance package, head-up display, top-view camera, dual pane windows for a near-silent ride, remote park assist, and Bang & Olufsen Sound as standard.
Optional add-ons for the prestige e-tron GT include a full leather interior with ventilated and massaging seats, Performance Package offering e-torque vectoring plus, Black optic appearance features and Audi laser headlights, and 21-inch wheels on top of the performance package.
Audi also revealed that a high-performance variant is also available, which should take the e-tron GT experience to the next level.
The 2022 RS e-tron GT will feature a 590-horsepower mill (637 with overboost).
Apart from a more powerful motor, the RS variant will come with a carbon fiber roof panel, Driver Assistance package, head-up display, power steering plus, e-torque vectoring plus, and carbon fiber accents on the front and rear bumpers.
Optional-add ons include the Carbon Performance Package which comes with rear wheel steering, an upgraded 21-inch five-spoke design wheel, carbon fiber accents on the exterior door trims, Audi laser headlights, and black exterior badging. A full leather interior may also be added.
A “Year One” package will also be made available for the RS variant which comes with the Carbon Performance and full leather packages, a unique 21-inch wheel with red ceramic brakes, and the RS interior design package featuring a black interior with red contrast stitching and red seat belts.
Pricing for the 2022 Audi e-tron GT starts at US$99,900 while the beefed-up RS e-tron GT variant has a starting price of US$139,900.
