BAIC launches hybrid off-road SUV

BAIC Philippines has launched the B30e Dune, a hybrid off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV).

Per the United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated-led brand, the newly launched model is offered in two variants: 4x2 and 4x4. Both trims are able to conquer both city streets and unpaved roads, all while allowing would-be owners to enjoy sustainable mobility.

Under the hood of the BAIC B30e Dune is the brand’s Dual Motor Smart Hybrid System. It is comprised of two electric motors (one electric motor for 4X2 trim) and a single internal combustion engine with a 1.5-liter displacement.

The BAIC B30e Dune 4x2 makes 329 horsepower (hp) and 550 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Meanwhile, the BAIC B30e Dune 4x4 puts out 403 hp and 685 Nm of pulling power.

Drivers can tailor their experience by selecting from the BAIC B30e Dune’s seven drive modes, which are Comfort, Sport, Economy, Snow, Sand, Muddy Road, and Wading. Through it, they can personalize the way the hybrid off-roader performs on various conditions and terrains.

Speaking of terrains, the BAIC B30e Dune wears a set of 19-inch alloy wheels shod in 235/60 series rubber. Allowing to conquer more territory is an approach angle of 24.5 degrees, departure angle of 30 degrees, and a wading depth of 450 millimeters.

Inside, the driver is faced with a fully digital interface. The instrument panel measures 10.25 inches. On the other hand, passengers can help with navigation — or managing the playlist queue — through the equally expansive 14.6-inch floating central display with screen mirroring connectivity.

Other notable features include leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable seats. The BAIC B30e Dune also gets a cleverly-designed integrated trunk picnic table. It folds behind the second-row seats and serves as a tonneau cover to help keep items secure.

Safety-wise, the BAIC B30e Dune gets Level 2 advanced driver assist technology. These include cruise control, integrated cruise assist, intelligent high beam control, blind spot monitoring system, lane assist system, lane change assist, emergency lane keep assist, forward collision warning, rear collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross travel warning, and rear cross travel braking.

Below are the prices for the B30e Dune’s two variants:

• BAIC B30e Dune 4x2: P1.588 million
• BAIC B30e Dune 4x4: P1.888 million
