Toyota North America presented its Prius Nightshade Edition not long ago. Now, the company now revealed the pricing for the bathed-in-black hybrid, as well as the new features of the Prius range.
The Prius Nightshade is named so thanks to its black-painted parts, which include headlight accents, mirror caps, door handles, color-keyed rear deck spoiler, and shark fin antenna. The 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels and its lug nuts complete the Prius' "Batmobile" look.
In the US market, the Prius range, comprised of eight variants, now goes from US$24,525 (around P1.225 million) to US$30,575 (around P1.5 million). The Prius Nightshade is available in front- and all-wheel drive (FWD, AWD) guises.
All Prius grades add a standard Rear Seat Reminder. This safety feature, which is designed to activate based on door sequencing logic, can alert the driver that a child or pet is left in the back seat when the car is stopped, the transmission is shifted into park, and the car is turned off.
Also standard is the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS-2.0) system, which includes: Pre-Collision System with Low-Light Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Daytime Bicyclist Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Road Sign Assist.
Service Connect trial, also a new standard features, provides a vehicle health report and maintenance alerts to the car. It can also send maintenance reminders via email, the Toyota App, or a Toyota Owner’s online account.
Powering the Prius Nightshade is a the familiar 1.8-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and two motor-generators. The powertrain is mated to a controlled planetary-type continuously variable transmission (CVT), which drives either the front or all four rollers.
An estimated fuel consumption of 22kpl is rated for the Prius FWD, while the AWD car is expected to do 20kpl.
Inside, the Prius Nightshade wears standard SofTex-trimmed power seats and steering wheel. Both tiller and seats can be heated for the occupants' comfort.
A semi-gloss black center console holds a seven-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. The infotainment system is linked to a six-speaker JBL sound system.
To see the Prius' eco driving prowess, a 4.2-inch color Dual Multi-Information Display (MID) has an Energy Monitor and Hybrid System Indicator. MID also shows Eco Score, Eco Savings Record, Drive Monitor, Eco Wallet, and Eco Diary.
While the highlight of the Prius Nightshade is this Midnight Black Metallic color, Toyota North America will also offer the Nightshade pack with the Super White and Silver Metallic paint options.
