Bentley, Breitling create latest timeless timepiece
Bentley and Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling are once again showing off their 17-year partnership with the new Chronomat Bentley watch.
Designed to make a bold statement everywhere you go, it is a blend of traditional quality, excellent craftsmanship, and advanced design technology all rolled into one.
The timepiece’s features is a throwback from Breitling's classic Chronomat from the 1980s. The Chronomat Bentley has a 42-millimeter stainless steel case with a green dial and black contrasting chronograph counters. The watch is housed on a stainless steel Rouleaux bracelet with a butterfly clasp, and features a ‘BENTLEY’ engraving round the transparent sapphire case back.
The new Chronomat marks the return of the the mechanical chronograph, which disappeared following the rising trend of quartz watches during the 70s. Resurrecting the Chronomat with Bentley brings back one of Breitling's history when it returned the mechanical Swiss watches back in the 80s, making the Chronomat an icon of its time.
Some 40 years later, it still maintains its iconic appeal as a luxurious and well-rounded sports watch.
”Both Bentley and Breitling share illustrious heritages which have been the bedrock of future world-leading technological and design developments for our brands," said Adrian Hallmark, Bentley chairman and CEO.
"From the onboard technology which defines Bentleys as the ultimate luxury grand tourers, to the passenger environment that maximises comfort and unrivalled luxury, our new range of models all derive inspiration from our history while driving our vision forward into the future. The new Chronomat Bentley exemplifies this commitment to honouring our authentic values while creating a new and enduring icon for today’s modern customers.’’
Breitling's original Chronomat was introduced in 1984, during those days when quartz watches were extremely popular in the market. Going against convention, the visionary watchmaker created a mechanical watch that eventually became a success and an icon of its era.
“The 1984 Chronomat occupies a very important place in our modern history," said Breitling CEO Georges Kern. "It was the watch that boldly proclaimed Breitling was staying absolutely true to its roots."
"When much of the industry focused their efforts and energies on quartz watches, the Chronomat reminded the world that Breitling had essentially invented the modern mechanical chronograph. The message resonated and the brand prospered. The Chronomat Collection is a fitting tribute to the amazing watch that, more than any other, put us back in touch with our heritage.”
