Bentley Orlando has created a bespoke space-themed Bentayga Speed for one of its customers.
In a statement, the Crewe-headquartered automotive company said that the custom-made Bentayga Speed was made using “feature content from Mulliner’s personal commissioning guide and a number of bespoke elements.”
The space-themed Bentayga Speed wears a Cypress body color (dark gray metallic with green undertones), as well as Orange Flame carbon fiber and gloss black trimmings.
Welcoming the occupants inside the vehicle are the illuminated treadplates that depict the planets orbiting a solar system inside the cabin, the orange bezels and the Galaxy Stone fascia.
The interior of the specially-created Bentayga Speed is trimmed in Beluga and Porpoise that gives a dark, night-sky-esque backdrop for the color accents.
The satin black speaker grilles of the Naim sound system discreetly hide in the shadows, and its center badges illuminate like stars in the night.
Orange touches are also present on the micro piping of the seat edges and floor-mats, the steering wheel’s center spoke, and gear lever.
“The Space Coast in central Florida has long been established as the world’s gateway to explore the universe above, so space travel and exploration were the perfect themes to inspire this unique car. Just as space is limitless, the opportunities for customization with the Mulliner design team were only limited by our collective imagination,” Bentley Orlando General Manager Joseph Wierda was quoted as saying.
For 2022 alone, the brand’s in-house bespoke and personalization division already completed 100 unique design requests, which reflected a doubling of demand compared to 2021. Last year, the Mulliner Design team completed its 1,000th bespoke commission since its inception seven years ago.
“The pace of growth has increased at the start of 2022, with continuing demand for individual personalization of Bentleys across the model range,” the company shared in a statement.
“The rise in popularity of our bespoke commissioning service is testament to the skills of both our Mulliner Design team and the craftspeople working tirelessly to deliver any request. Our Personal Commissioning Guide is the launch pad for so many customer journeys, and this space-themed Bentayga Speed is a stunning example of what’s possible,” Mulliner Commercial Head Paul Dickinson noted.
The Bentley Bentayga Speed is powered by a six-liter W12 twin-turbocharged engine that can churn out 626hp and 900Nm of torque. The powertrain allows the vehicle to go as fast as 306 kph and sprint from zero-100 kph in 3.9 seconds.
Providing the stopping power for the Bentayga Speed are the optional carbon ceramic brakes (the largest and most powerful brakes available from Bentley), with a maximum braking torque of 6,000 Nm and engineered to withstand temperatures up to 1,000°C.
“At the start of 2022, around 28,500 Bentley Bentaygas have now been produced. The Bentayga remains Bentley’s best-selling model, and has expanded the luxury SUV sector,” the luxury automotive manufacturer noted.
