Bentley reaches record sales in 2022

Bentley Motors has reached its best annual sales to date last year after selling 15,714 units around the world.

The achievement made in 2022 is four percent higher compared to the previous record year (2021) wherein it delivered 14,659 examples to buyers.

In a statement, the Crewe-headquartered marque attributed the latest sales milestone to the new model introductions and increasing demand for Mulliner personalization and Bentley’s new hybrid models.

The best-selling model for Bentley Motors continues to be the Bentayga, accounting for 42 percent of its total sales. The company said that the Bentayga sold “more in its sixth year of sales than ever before.”

Further, the Bentley Continental GT and GT Convertible, which accounted for 30 percent of the company’s overall sales, with the GT Speed taking a 31 percent share in the model mix. 

Meanwhile, the Flying Spur, cornered 28 percent of Bentley’s total sales, with its success partly due to the introduction of the new hybrid model (which holds 30 percent of the model mix).

Bentley Motors’ biggest market worldwide continues to be the United States, selling 4,221 units for the full 12-month period and securing 28 percent of the total sales.

Aside from that, Bentley Mulliner — the oldest coachbuilder in the world — recorded a significant increase with the number of personal commissions increasing fivefold in the past five years.

“In what was another year of unpredictability, the business overcame significant headwinds and demonstrated great resilience to deliver the third consecutive record sales year. This underlines our brand strength, operational excellence and strong global demand by market and model,” Bentley Motors Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Adrian Hallmark was quoted as saying.  

“The reaction to the market introduction of our hybrid models, Flying Spur joining Bentayga last year, demonstrates the path the luxury sector is heading, and we are positioned firmly at the forefront. These numbers are validation that we not only lead the sector in sales and market share, but also investment in electric technologies and commitment to being net carbon neutral in 2030,” the firm’s chief executive added.
