British automotive marque Bentley is known for packaging vehicles with immense power and luxury. After over a century of existence, the upscale car company continues to expand its segments with the continuous innovation and dedication of every member of its whole design and engineering team.
On June 30 from Crewe, England, Bentley Motors Limited announced details on the new 2021 Bentayga – the definitive luxury SUV, and the first car launched under Bentley’s Beyond100 business plan.
The new Bentayga’s strikingly dynamic look draws influence from the marque’s new design language, first established in the third-generation Continental GT and all-new Flying Spur.
These three cars create a new family that are more visually connected than ever before. The bold styling presents an impressive road presence, with every panel at the front of the car redesigned for a polished, modern look.
“With the new Bentayga, we’re repositioning the pinnacle of the luxury SUV segment to be even higher, even further away from the competition," said Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors. "We’ve listened to our customers and made improvements to the areas most important to them, and the new Bentayga is a thoroughly modern and beautiful extension of the original car’s abilities and achievements.”
The Bentayga’s most commended interior has been significantly revised in the latest model. There is a new center fascia and steering wheel, new door trims and all-new seats that are now available with ventilation in the rear of the five-seat cabin option. Passengers at the back will also enjoy significantly legroom which is increased by up to 100mm depending on configuration.
With the handcrafted, Bentley ‘wing’ dashboard design, the British marque's next generation infotainment system is able to integrate smoothly, featuring a 10.9-inch display screen with edge-to-edge visuals.
The all-new navigation has satellite maps, online search and other nifty tech features. And for the first time, wireless Apple CarPlay will be standard alongside the existing wired system, with Android Auto added depending on the market.
Occupants from the back seat will benefit from a new, larger touchscreen remote control tablet, similar to that introduced in the all-new Flying Spur.
Bentley has significantly improved the new Bentayga’s connectivity all over the cabin, with USB-C data ports and a wireless phone charger now standard. Along with it, there is now an embedded SIM provided for My Bentley with connected car features that no longer require customers to provide their own data connection.
For the first time in a Bentley vehicle, the splendid interior can be enhanced with the application of dark tint diamond brushed aluminum trim, as well as two straight-grained surfaces new to Bentayga: Koa and Crown Cut Walnut.
There is now a larger, assertive matrix grille that is more upright, along with a new and intelligent LED matrix headlamp technology that incorporates the signature cut crystal glassware Bentley design. A more aggressive front bumper emphasizes the performance features of the vehicle. Another new feature introduced is the heated, wet-arm windscreen wipers that has 22 washer jets for each arm.
The rear of the new Bentayga undergoes a major transformation , sporting a complete redesign of the rear surfaces which now includes a new full-width tailgate with new encapsulated lamps. Meanwhile, the license plate has been relocated lower into the bumper for a cleaner look.
Wide, split tailpipes further leave no doubt that this is a powerful performance car. A 20mm increase to the rear track width brings dynamic benefit and repositions the wheels in their arches to improve the car’s stance. The wheels themselves are a new design, distinctive to Bentayga.
The new model will be launched in Bentayga V8 guise which offers supercar performance balanced with everyday usability. A plug-in Hybrid and W12-powered Speed versions will follow later this year. The V8’s 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged petrol engine develops an impressive 542 HP and 770 Nm of torque.
In the local market, the Bentley Bentayga is up for grabs for Php 14.34 million.
