KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many Bacalars were made by Bentley Mulliner?
According to Bentley, its bespoke division made only 12 specimens of the Bacalar. Eight have already been sent to their owners with the last four to finish the last phase of production soon. What is the definitive feature of the Bacalar?
Despite all Bacalars of the 12-car project being a unique representation of their owners, each of them sport a roofless Barchetta design with all-new and highly muscular coachwork as well as unique 22-inch Tri-Finish wheels, with polished faces, dark-gray satin spokes, and accent highlights.Of the 12, eight have already been handed over to their respective owners. The last four, according to the Crewe-based luxury car brand, are now in the final phase of their preparation by hand and will be soon ready for delivery.
“Designing a Bacalar is an exercise in imagination, with the material, color, and finish of practically every interior and exterior surface being bespoke. Regardless of your personal style, whether it be to specifying your Bacalar with a bold Yellow Flame exterior paint synthesized with rice husk ash, or a more subtle Moss Green that reflects Bentley’s heritage, developing your own artisan piping, or co-create a unique fabric blend, the Bacalar has provided all of these opportunities,” said Bentley Mulliner Head of Color, Materials, and Finishes Maria Mulder.
The Bacalar, as Bentley describes, is the ultimate expression of two-seat, open-air luxury. It was also the first in a new series of pinnacle bespoke projects that have spearheaded a return to coachbuilding by Bentley Mulliner — the oldest coachbuilder in the world.
Arguably its most notable feature, the Bentley Bacalar sports a roofless Barchetta design with all-new and highly muscular coachwork, embracing a myriad of options and materials. The cars sit on unique 22-inch Tri-Finish wheels, with polished faces, dark grey satin spokes, and accent highlights to complement the exterior.
Each Bacalar, however, is truly unique. All of the 12 specimens represent the result of the direct interaction between Bentley’s bespoke design team and each individual customer. That said, no two cars in the limited-edition release are the same.
Due to the nature of these personal commissions, Bentley is not able to reveal the identity of the customers nor where the cars will be heading. However, each customer shares a love of driving, along with an avid appreciation for craftsmanship, authenticity, and attention to detail — all deeply associated with Mulliner.
The imminent completion of the Bacalars, all of which have been assembled in Bentley Mulliner’s dedicated workshop in Crewe, will allow the Mulliner team to focus attention on their next project, which will be revealed soon.
