Bentley unveils one-off Continental GT Azure

Bentley has unveiled a one-off Continental GT Azure created in honor of the iconic R-Type Continental’s (JAS 949) 70th anniversary.

Per the British automotive brand, the Bentley Continental GT Azure recreates the beauty and elegance of the R-Type Bentley Continental with special exterior and interior appointments.

The surface of the vehicle has been hand-painted in Old English White and is fitted with a bright chrome muse and a bright chrome matrix grille. Further, it wears 22-inch black and polished hand-painted wheels.

Its cabin is lined with Cricket Ball leather, which provides a cosseting, deep and rich heritage feel for the driver and passengers while mirroring the color of the JAS 949’s interior. To provide contrast and to preserve the design lines of the cabin, hand-applied piping in Beluga leather brings accents to the seats.

Additionally, the interior of the one-off Bentley Continental GT Azure boasts an open pore Burr Walnut veneer. Bentley explained that the said material provides a closer texture to the patinated finish of the JAS 949.

Notable standard modern amenities include Comfort Specification front seats (with a massage function), Bentley’s 48V active anti-roll control system, a Head-up Display, and the Bentley Night Vision, which uses infra-red cameras to identify pedestrians, cyclists, and fauna outside the beam of the LED headlights.

Moreover, Bentley packed the one-off Continental GT Azure with advanced driver-assist features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Traffic Assist, and Bentley Safeguard.

Powering the Bentley Continental GT Azure is a 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged engine mated to a ZF eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This setup makes 534 horsepower. According to Bentley, these numbers are enough to send the R-Type Bentley JAS 949-inspired Continental GT Azure from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 4 seconds. Its speed peaks at 318kph.

The new Continental GT Azure is not for sale though. It now joins Bentley’s UK press fleet, where it will be available for media loans along with the opportunity to drive JAS 949.
