If there is a love that cannot die, it has to be Filipinos’ love for their families and their MPVs.
Filipinos are naturally family-oriented, so it’s not hard to see why they would be attracted to SUVs and MPVs. Because families of five or more are common in the Philippines, many prospective car buyers are drawn to vehicles that have a wide range of family-friendly amenities and can carry a larger amount of people and luggage. Extended families are quite common here as well, so Filipinos find the low step-in height practical for grandparents. Most of all, families with little bundles of joy will need space to easily ingress and egress without too much hassle.
If you’re on the lookout for an MPV, check out Carmudi’s list of the best MPVs in the Philippines 2017 below.

Kia Carens (starts from ₱ 1,195,000)
© todayonline.com
This one is a front-runner, if we’re talking about its image, that is. With a longer and sleeker look, undoubtedly, Carens’ design language appeals to the eyes. But what’s more to love about the Kia
Carens aside from its appearance? Its practical seating versatility and 1.7-liter engine of course! Linked to six-speed automatic and manual transmissions, these make the Carens fun to drive. Any variant of the Carens also has a 60:40 split, sliding, and flat-folding second-row and a third-row that can fold flat and split 50:50, so there’s more option for utility. Need more space for the luggage? Just fold the third-row down. If there are more passengers, this one has an available seven-seating capacity, although adults may admittedly be uncomfortable at the back.
The Carens has a nice set of features, as well. For the highest level trim, you can get a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic aircon, active eco, bluetooth and iPod-ready speakers, 10-way seats with lumbar support and cushion extension, full leather seats, rain sensor, Electronic Stability Program, and dual airbags.

Refined and clean-looking, the
Touran is another great choice for driving on our streets. Design-wise, it isn’t as stylish as the Carens or 5008, but rest assured that your passengers will stay comfortable and safe during your journey. Aside from premium quality materials, the Touran is equipped with a lot of convenient amenities inside to deliver a good experience for your passengers. They’ll never get bored with the RCD 310 entertainment system with eight speakers. Honda Odyssey (starts from ₱ 1,953,000)

The Honda
Odyssey is the Car and Truck of the Year Philippines Awards Night winner of the Premium MPV of the Year category. Need we say more? What we liked about the Odyssey is that it comes with a nice set of features for its price. The 8-seater is especially a bang for the buck, although with some features removed compared to the other trim. Admittedly, you might miss the leather seats, the power sliding door for the driver side, and the 9-inch rear entertainment system.
Even so, the Odyssey EX 8-seater still shares some luxurious features with its 7-seater counterpart aside from the generous 351 liters of luggage space behind the third row and the 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine with Earth Dreams Technology. The 7-inch touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth connectivity is still present, as well as the power windows and door locks, reverse camera, and the fold-flat third row magic seats. In terms of safety, the features installed remains unchanged compared to the 7-seater trim.

The
Kia Grand Carnival is as grand as its name suggests, but it’s not exactly cheap. For a cheaper alternative, consider its new 11-seater variant released last year. Albeit with less luxurious features like sun roof, leather seats, smart power tailgate, parking assist system, and push start/stop button, the new 11-seater Grand Carnival still has some amenities that you would appreciate having.
Entrance and exit is made easier with just a switch of the power side door feature. On the other hand, those with young’uns will appreciate the stainless technology cloth replacing the leather seat material, as this special type of cloth will make stains and accidental spills easier to clean. Most of all, the 11-seater variant also has the seating versatility its sibling is known to have, so you can easily arrange the seats to fit your cargo.

As far as looks go, the
Peugeot 5008 is pretty far ahead. This one opts more for a curvy look with its impressive use of lines and details, and yet it’s as elegant as the French come.
