BMW Motorrad launches ConnectedRide Com U1
BMW’s motorcycle division, BMW Motorrad, has launched a Bluetooth communications system allowing motorcycle riders to listen to music, make phone calls, follow navigational instructions, or simply talk to their fellow riders while on both short and long trips.

Per BMW Motorrad, the ConnectedRide Com U1 will be priced at US$375 and will be available starting next month.According to BMW Motorrad, the new BMW Motorrad communication system ConnectedRide Com U1 is a universally compatible Bluetooth communications system that can be attached to a variety of motorcycle helmets.
The actual module measures a little under four inches and weighs 2.3 ounces. It sports a lightweight 900mAh battery that provides power that lasts anywhere from eight to 13 hours.
Other fascinating features include an FM radio, that allows up to ten radio stations to be saved; voice control; access to a digital voice assistant; and two intercom modes: Bluetooth Intercom and Mesh Intercom.
The former is ideal for communication between two participants and features a range of up to 1.25 miles in open terrain while the latter is optimal for communications of groups with more than two participants. In Mesh Mode, the effective range is at 1.25 miles but can be expanded up to five miles when at least 6 riders are connected and who are at least 1.0-mile away from each other. When in Mesh Intercom mode, the ConnectedRide Com U1 can accommodate up to 24 participants.
BMW Motorrad’s ConnectedRide Com U1 will go on sale in the US next month and will have a sticker price of US$375. It competes with the Packtalk from KTM, which we previously covered in a story that you can check here.
