BMW Motorrad unveiled the new R 1250 R Roadster, which is touted as a purist’s motorcycle.
Between the rider’s legs will be a two-cylinder boxer engine that will put out 136 horsepower (hp) and 142Nm of torque. Thanks to the BMW ShiftCam technology for varying valve timing and valve lift on the intake side, it will deliver beefy power across the entire speed range as well as smooth and quiet running.
New features of the BMW R 1250 R Roadster will be the “Eco” driving mode, the new LED turn signals, and the optional full LED headlamp with adaptive turning light.
The new “Eco” driving mode will help the rider travel as fuel-efficiently as possible. As a result, the BMW R 1250 R Roadster will offer a soft throttle curve when in “Eco” mode. The rider will also experience moderate engine torque limitation while in this setting. Riders will know that the “Eco” mode is activated when the efficiency display appears on the instrument panel.
As for the new LED turn signal, it will ensure that other road users can clearly see when the driver intends to make a turn.
The BMW R 1250 R Roadster will come standard with a full LED headlamp. However, riders who want enhanced safety can opt for the full LED headlamp with adaptive turning light, which provides better illumination of the road on bends.
The adaptive turning light will work by switching on additional LED elements in the main headlight that are fitted with their own reflectors, depending on the leaning angle. It will be activated from an inclined position of more than seven degrees and a speed of more than 10 kilometers per hour (kph). The additional lighting effect can be perfectly experienced up to a leaning angle of 25 degrees.
BMW Motorrad’s R 1250 R Roadster is priced from US$14,995 (P879,291). It will reportedly come to United States (US) dealerships in 2023.
