BMW Motorrad unboxes ‘scouter-like’ smartglasses

 BMW Motorrad has revealed the ConnectedRide Smartglasses motorcycle goggles. 

Kids who grew up in the 90's watching Dragon Ball Z might remember the “scouters” worn by soldiers in Frieza’s army. However, instead of showing a person’s power level, BMW Motorrad’s ConnectedRide Smartglasses display relevant riding information for motorcycle riders.

According to BMW’s motorcycle arm, the ConnectedRide Smartglasses can display data such as speed, speed limit, gear, and even navigation through real-time GPS data transfer.

For a better experience, the BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses can be paired to a downloadable smartphone application via Bluetooth. Once connected, the projection can be positioned and the settings can be selected before the ride and also while riding via the multi-controller on the motorcycle handlebars.

The BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses are powered by a lithium-ion battery, which provides up to 10 hours of operation.

In addition to the individual user interface and an increase in riding safety, the smartglasses BMW Motorrad pointed out, also offer a high level of comfort. Its design, the motorcycle brand explained, has been adapted to meet the special needs of motorcyclists.

Further, the BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses can be adapted to fit numerous helmets and face shapes. This makes the smartglasses comfortable to wear even on long day trips.

BMW Motorrad also supplies two sets of lenses with the frame: one with 85-percent transparency and another with tint.

Riders who wear glasses can order an adapter directly from the provider.

The recommended retail price for the BMW ConnectedRide Smartglasses is €690 (approximately P41,933).
