SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation, importer of BMW cars in the Philippines has launched the latest 7 Series — said to be the company’s most important product introduction to date.
In a statement, the local distributor of the German premium automotive marque shared that the newest offering “has been designed to meet the needs of a modern target group that sees itself as committed to meeting challenges in a responsible manner – and one that views personal mobility as a way to experience unique moments in everyday life and on trips away.”
“The all-new BMW 7 Series is our most important product introduction to date. It is the sum of true innovation in design, comfort, technology, and overall performance. This sedan redefines luxury motoring and brings it to greater heights. As always, this model is our blueprint for what the future of BMW will look like, which will be very exciting,” SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation President Spencer Yu was quoted as saying.
At the fore, the all-new BMW 7 Series showcases the new interpretation of the ttwin circular headlights and kidney grille design bordered by the adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistance. Other distinct design features of the new-generation model include the clear surface-work of the front apron and the chiseled bonnet with dynamic streak down its centerline.
At the side are the flush-fitted side windows with invisible seals. Its shoulder line (running from the daytime driving lights all the way to the rear lights) cuts the taut bodywork. The long doors, which have a soft-close function, guarantee ease of entry and exit for rear passengers. It sits on 19-inch double-spoke light alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, seen at the rear are the slim LED rear lights.
Inside the cabin, the all-new BMW 7 Series wears Veganza upholstery for its seats — high-quality surface material with leather-like qualities while offering a carbon dioxide emission savings of around 85 percent compared to the traditional trim.
The comfort seats offer wider seat surfaces than the outgoing model, as well as extensive electric adjustment and lumbar support for the driver and front passenger. The multi-function seats have optimized heating to ensure luxurious comfort.
Further, electrically-operated roller sun blinds are also available at the cabin’s rear portion. The said function can either be operated by the rear-seat occupants (on their respective touch command control displays integrated into the rear doors), or driver (via the infotainment system).
In addition, rear passengers can also make phone calls on the car's Bowers and Wilkins Surround Sound System, access climate control features, and adjust the seats. The all-new BMW 7 Series also comes with a four-zone automatic climate control with new slot-type vents and a fixed panoramic glass roof.
The all-new BMW 7 Series also features the new iDrive system. The system is powered by the latest-generation Operating System 8 designed with a clear focus on dialogue-based interaction using natural language through the BMW Intelligent Voice Assistant and touch operation via the BMW widescreen display, which enjoins the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and the 14.9-inch central information display. Mobile devices can be connected to the infotainment system via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Customers whose mobile phones have wireless-charging capabilities may juice up their devices using the charging tray found within the center control island.
Furthermore, the BMW Interaction Bar also makes its debut in the all-new 7 Series. The aforementioned functional unit sports a crystalline surface structure with highly effective backlighting that extends across the full width of the instrument panel and well into the door panel trim. It houses touch-sensitive control panels for adjusting the ventilation and climate control, activating the hazard warning lights and opening the glove compartment.
Offered in the 735i Pure Excellence trim, the vehicle has a myriad of innovations in its chassis and drive system such as adaptive two-axle air suspension system with automatic self-levelling and adaptive suspension with electronically-controlled dampers.
Powering the all-new BMW 7 Series is the TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine with 48-volt mild hybrid system that can produce up to 286 horsepower (hp) and 425 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission that launches the vehicle from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.7 seconds.
Per the Ramon Ang-backed automotive distributor, the mild hybrid system can generate torque of 200 Nm and 12 hp — depending on the driving situation.
Its driver assistive functions include cruise Control with braking function, crash sensor, active protection, and active guard.
Drivers of the all-new BMW 7 Series also benefit from effective assistance when parking and maneuvering as standard, thanks to technologies such as active park distance control (PDC) and parking assistant with the reversing assist camera. The standard parking assistant helps the driver select and park in spaces either parallel or perpendicular to the road. It can also be used to exit parking spaces if necessary, by carrying out the acceleration, braking, and gear changes required for the maneuver.
Packaged with comprehensive five-year warranty, the all-new BMW 735i Pure Excellence is retailed at P8.99 million. The vehicle can be had in color options namely Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, Sparkling Copper Grey, Space Silver, and Oxide Grey.
