BMW PH launches X5 PHEV

MANILA: BMW Philippines has formally unveiled the latest powertrain option of the X5.

The new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport — which will replace the diesel-powered version, boasts a plug-in hybrid mill setup — ensuring more power output, efficiency, smoke-free range.

Here are some noteworthy bits of information about the newly-revealed product.

Exterior

The new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport features the brand modern and premium look as expressed by the signature kidney iconic glow with vertical air curtains, a lower air intake, chromed decorative portions and triangular apertures on some sections.

Enhancing the look are the glossy roof rails and 21-inch alloy Y-spoke wheels.

Interior

More opulent appointments can be seen inside the BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport.

Serving as the vehicle’s centerpiece is the BMW Widescreen Display that puts together the 12.3-inch digital driver with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen — lessening the use for physical buttons.

In addition, the modern interior comes with luxurious and convenient portions in the form of:

• Leather-like surfaces
• Fine wood trim
• Roller sun blinds
• Wireless charging tray
• Four-zone control air-conditioning system
• Ambient lighting with model-specific graphics

Powertrain

Under the BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport’s hood is a six-cylinder in-line 3.0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor.

The mill setup can give a peak output of 489 horsepower (hp) and up to 700 Newton-meters, which is sent to the wheels via the eight-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission. With this, the vehicle can go 100 kilometers per hour (kph) from rest in 4.8 seconds and hit speeds of up to 250 kph.

Further, the electric motor is mated to a 25.7-kilowatt-hour battery that allows the vehicle to cover 100-118 kilometers (km) without fumes (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure standards).

Its adaptive two-axle air suspension with self-leveling capabilities and electronically-controlled dampers guarantee stability — with the ride height being adjusted through the various drive modes and a dedicated button within the cockpit.

Ensuring the vehicle’s stopping power is its M Sport braking system.

Technologies

BMW has also significantly improved its automated driving and parking systems in the new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport, which now comes with:

• Front-collision warning system (which can now detect cyclists, pedestrians or oncoming traffic)
• Automatic speed limit assist
• Exit warning active navigation
• Route speed control
• Emergency stop assistant
• Lane change assistant
• Merging Assistant

Further, the vehicle’s Parking Assistant Professional allows automated parking into and out of spaces and complete maneuvers over up to 200 meters — controlled from outside the car using the My BMW App on an Apple iPhone.

The new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport also has a digital key that can lock and unlock the vehicle using ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology. This is compatible with either iOS or Android-run devices.

Packaged with a portable flexi charger, a five-year comprehensive BMW warranty (or 200,000 km whichever comes first), and an eight-year warranty for the electric battery (or 120,000 km whichever comes first), the new BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport is priced at P6.99 million and can be had in the following colors options:
