Bonoan is new DPWH chief

Roger Mercado was the Acting DPWH secretary before Bonoan accepted the position.The new public works department chief succeeded Acting Secretary Roger Mercado. The official turnover happened last Friday (July 1).
In a statement, the agency said that the appointment was somehow a homecoming for Bonoan. According to DPWH, the new secretary started his career as public servant in 1967 up to his retirement in 2010 as Senior Undersecretary.
Prior to joining the DPWH again, he was the Skyway Operations and Maintenance Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer.
“With all the qualifications and experiences as professional civil engineer and wisdom that he has earned in his illustrious career in both public and private sectors, Secretary Bonoan was picked by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to lead the daunting task of completing unfinished flagship projects of the previous administration and push new infrastructure initiatives,” the department noted.
