Bulacan LGUs have expressed support for the rehabilitation done by the NLEX Corporation on the Meycauayan and Bigaa bridges, which are scheduled to be finished in September and August 2021, respectively.

Last April, the NLEX Corporation started the rehabilitation on the said bridges.  With the project 40 percent complete, the 45-meter Meycauayan bridge and 64-meter Bigaa bridge will be finished on the said months, the NLEX Corporation said.

The project included the replacement of girders and slabs to strengthen the structures and improve their lifespan.

Local government executives in Bulacan expressed their support for the project in Meycauayan and Bigaa in Balagtas, as it will enable safer and more comfortable journey for motorists.

“These two bridges have been vital in facilitating safe and unimpeded travel of motorists and transport of goods in and out of the expressway. We are optimistic that once the rehabilitation is completed, we can expect a better travel experience,” Bocaue Mayor Jose Santiago Jr. said.

Meycauayan City Mayor Linabelle Villarica said: “We can all expect a better travel experience after the project’s completion in September 2021.

We seek the patience and understanding of the public as the lane closures are necessary to ensure everyone's safety while the rehabilitation of the Meycauayan Bridge is being completed.”

At present, three lanes have remained passable to motorists while works are ongoing. Counter flow is also being implemented. Traffic marshals and patrol crews are deployed on to manage the traffic flow, the NLEX Corporation said.

“We extend support to their important infrastructure developments that will improve the serviceability of our expressway, strengthen connectivity, boost investment and open up job opportunities in the Province of Bulacan,” Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando commented.

NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista assured that safety is prioritized even as traffic congestion is being eased. He also thanked the support from the local stakeholders in areas covered by the project.

“We are very pleased and grateful that the bridge rehabilitation project has been well-received by our host LGUs. Be assured that NLEX Corporation will continue to upgrade its roads to uphold quality standards and most importantly, provide safety and convenience for the public,” Bautista said.

NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
