EV to be revealed on 2nd day of PEVS
BYD Cars Philippines has confirmed the arrival of the Seal electric sedan here in the country.
Per the invite sent to Carmudi Philippines, the Ayala-led brand will unveil the model at the second day of the upcoming Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), scheduled from October 24-26 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The said invitation reinforces the statement BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Anthony Palanca told Zigwheels Philippines not too long ago.
“We are going to be launching a performance vehicle under the Ocean series — a dual motor model, and it’s going to be at the EV (electric vehicle) summit on October 24 to 26,” he was quoted saying.
“It has dual motors, and it makes 510 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters (Nm) if I’m not mistaken,” he added.
While we await the unveiling and presentation of the BYD seal here in the Philippines, let us look at the global specifications of the electric car in the global market.
Overseas, the mid-size fastback sedan is offered in two variants — Design and Excellence AWD — with the latter equipped with an asynchronous motor at the front wheel axle and a permanent magnet synchronous motor at the back.
It uses an 82.5 kilowatt-hour Blade battery, which delivers some 520 kilometers of emissions-free range.
The said setup is able to make around 522 horsepower with 670 Newton-meters of torque. Further, the electric powertrain also sends the BYD Seal from zero to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 180 kph.
Below are other notable features of the said model:
