BYD delivers 1st Han EV to Laos PM
In a recent press release, BYD announced the delivery of the first Han EV to the Prime Minister’s Office of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Vientiane. The delivery was made by the country’s BYD dealer, MOK.

The BYD flagship model presented to the Laos Prime Minister features leading-edge technology, the ultra-safe blade battery, and boasts a zero-to-60mph speed of 3.9 seconds. It is believed that the Han EV will bring a whole new business traveler experience to Laos.
In 2020, Laos’ former PM Thongloun Sisoulith visited BYD’s Xi’an Industrial campus. The Lao government has recently been paying increasing attention to the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry and announced last October that all-electric vehicles will be prioritized for the procurement of government cars.
Last May, the Electricité du Laos (EDL) purchased its first batch of electric vehicles, including the BYD e2 BEV, for corporate use in Vientiane. The first 28 BYD NEVs (including 12 BYD C8 electric buses, eight units BYD T5D electric light trucks, and eight units Yuan EV), were shipped in July. In September, BYD officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Loca, the largest ride-hailing service platform in Laos.
In 2022, BYD plans to deliver 100 EVs to Laos.
