We called it
way ahead of everybody else and we were right;
BMW has confirmed that it is
launching the all-new BMW Z4 at the
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California today.
At the much-anticipated annual motoring event, BMW will present the
BMW Z4 M40i First Edition, a limited special edition of the roadster that "inspires not only with the agility, precision and dynamic handling characteristics that are so typical of BMW M Performance models, but also with particularly sophisticated design and equipment features."
The all-new Z4 has the
classic roadster stance, with its
long hood and short rear deck,
low center of gravity,
perfect 50:50 weight distribution, wide tracks and a
compact wheelbase.
Underneath the bonnet is a modern interpretation of BMW's classic
3.0-liter straight six-cylinder engine that
produces 340 hp through the rear wheels. Providing pure driving pleasure for the Z4 M40i First Edition are its
sports suspension with
electronically-controlled dampers,
M Sport braking system, and an
electronically-controlled M Sport rear differential. Working in unison, all these mechanical wizardry propels the latest M Performance car from 0 to 100 kph
in 4.6 seconds.
The design of the all-new Z4 is
faithful to the Z4 Concept BMW unveiled at the same venue a year ago. Prominent design features of the production Z4 are the
vertically-aligned adaptive LED headlights with matrix function for the high beam, the BMW kidney grille with its
mesh design,
air extractors on the front wheel arches, and the
spoiler integrated into the rear deck. Inside, the all-new Z4 is typically BMW with its
driver-oriented cockpit with the center stack angled toward the driver while the
BMW Head-Up Display is featured for the first time in a roadster.
For the Z4 M40i First Edition, BMW has fitted it with specific design and equipment features that are exclusive to it, starting with the
Frozen Orange Metallic paintwork and an
electrically-operated textile soft top in
anthracite with silver effect. Other exclusive bits to the Z4 M40i First Edition are the
BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line,
black exterior mirror caps and
19-inch bicolor double spoke-design light alloy wheels for the exterior while inside, it has the
Vernasca black leather trim with decorative stitching,
electrically-adjustable seats with memory function, an ambient light option, and the
Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.
The
full details and specifications of the all-new BMW Z4, including its
other engine variants and diverse equipment features,
will be released on September 19, while its worldwide market launch will be
in the second quarter of 2019.
