Caltex partners with VISA, introduces payWave technology
In the age of modern technology, instant transactions are becoming a fad. Food shops, convenience stores and daily commute have started using seamless and cashless technology to slash valuable time on waiting and queueing, making our daily lives much faster and easier.
Recently, Caltex, through its local marketing arm Chevron Philippines, Inc. (CPI), unveiled its partnership with Visa Inc. with the introduction of the Visa payWave--a contactless payment technology--to add more time to the things that matter.
Through the latest technology launched by Visa, motorists that used Visa payWave cards can literally gas-up and go with just a wave of their cards--no swiping nor signing of PIN needed.
During the launch, Chevron Philippines General Manager Peter Morris said that Visa card-using motorists may enhance their gas-up experience on Caltex stations with the Visa payWave, technology, which reduces the need for cash or the time eaten up during swiping and PIN sign up.
"Motorists gassing up using Visa payWave will definitely be able to experience quicker service in our forecourts. Motorists can transact securely and with ease, knowing that they remain in control of their card at all times," Morris said.
For his part, Visa Country Manager for Philippines and Guam Stuart Tomlinson said that they are excited with the new partnership with Chevron.
"As the global payments leader, Visa always wants to reduce friction in the payment process. We are excited to partner with Chevron Philippines once again to bring seamless customer experience to motorists. Visa payWave is much quicker, more secure and more convenient than cash," he said.
In an interview with Carmudi Philippines, Joel Gaviola, Chevron's Assistant manager for policy, government, and public affairs revealed that CPI is "the first in the industry to utilize the Visa Paywave in the country." According to him, 50 percent of the more than 700 Caltex stations locally will have the Visa payWave option.
