The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) experienced a 10.3-percent increase in terms of year-to-date sales as of August 2024.

    Last month alone, CAMPI-TMA’s retail performance reached 39,155 units. The said figure reflected a 0.4-percent slide versus July 2024’s 39,331 units sold but grew 6.7 percent if compared to the 36,699 vehicles turned over to buyers in August 2023.

    Models under the commercial vehicle category cornered 73.64 percent share by handing over 224,438 units to clients. The said numbers show a 9.1-percent climb from the 205,764 vehicles sold the previous year.

    On the other hand, the passenger car segment collectively sold 80,327 units, which is a 14-percent rise over the 70,451 examples handed over to buyers during the same timeline in 2023.

    Toyota Motor Philippines maintained its dominance by cornering 46.15-percent share of the market with its 140,654-unit sales performance. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation trailed the leading local vehicle distributor with 58,513 vehicles sold, which clinched 19.2-percent share of the market.

    At third and fourth spots were the local arms of Ford Motor Company and Nissan with 6.22 and 5.99 percent of the market (18,961 and 18,270 units retailed) respectively.

    Suzuki Philippines ranked fifth with 13,206 units (4.33 percent).

    Further, Isuzu Philippines Corporation sat at sixth place (11,180 units sold), Honda Cars Philippines on seventh (10,281 vehicles) and Hyundai Motor Philippines at eighth spot (7,683).

    Morris Garages Philippines (which is under SAIC Motor) was at ninth spot with 5,496 vehicles sold to customers.

    Taking the 10th place is KP Motors Corporation (distributor of Kia models in the country) with its 3,730-unit performance.
