CAMPI-TMA sales rise by 17% in H1 2022
Sales of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) for the first half of 2022 has grown by almost 17 percent compared to the same period last year.

The top five automotive distributors for January to June 2022 for CAMPI-TMA are Toyota Motor Philippines, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines, Nissan Philippines, Suzuki Philippines, and Ford Motor Philippines.Based on the consolidated report, the two groups rolled out 154,874 units to customers during the first six months of the year unlike the 132,767-vehicle sales rally in January to June 2021.
The commercial vehicle segment provided the thrust for the groups’ strong year-to-date output, selling 115,871 examples that reflected a 28.2 percent rise against the 90,361 units retailed for the initial half of 2021.
It buffered the slowdown of sales for passenger cars, which went down by eight percent after only delivering 39,003 vehicles to buyers in January-June 2022 in contrast to the 42,406 units sold for the same period a year ago.
Last month alone, CAMPI-TMA delivered 28,601 units, which is 26.8-percent more than the 22,550 units turned over to customers during the same months in 2021.
“The automotive industry recovery is progressing as new motor vehicles sales reached an upward growth trajectory in June driven by the pent-up demand from consumers amid the less-than-ideal economic conditions recorded in the same period”, CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez was quoted as saying.
“The industry is optimistic of sustaining motor vehicle sales in its current pre-pandemic trendline in the coming months, albeit challenging amid the ongoing headwinds to the economic recovery, which continue to affect consumer confidence and overall employment”, he added.
The top five local distributors under the two groups are Toyota Motor Philippines (80,090 units), Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (20,734), Nissan Philippines (11,188), Suzuki Philippines (9,851) and Ford Motor Philippines, Inc. (8,956).
