KEY TAKEAWAYS
Who is CIC's contractor for the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 Phase 2 project?
The toll operator's contractor for the project is China Road and Bridge Corporation. When will the second phase of construction for the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 start?
CIC's project with CRBC will start within the first quarter of 2023.The Cavitex concession holder shared that the agreement was recently signed by CIC President and General Manager Raul Ignacio, and CRBC Philippine branch General Manager Ren Xiaopeng.
In a statement, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) subsidiary said that the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 is a 1.9-kilometer expressway that will connect Cavitex R-1 (Coastal Road) from Paranaque Toll Plaza to Sucat via the R-1 Interchange. CIC said that motorists can expect a reduced travel time to Sucat Road from Cavitex R-1 and vice versa by 10 minutes.
"The Cavitex C5 Link is a vital segment of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway Project (MCTEP), so far, we managed to open 3.8-kilometer (Segment 3A1 and 3A2) to the motoring public, serving more than 16,000 vehicles daily. Still, we have a long way to go. This is something we cannot do alone, hence our search for a contractor that would be up for the task-delivering world-class quality infrastructure for our motorists within our timeline. We are glad that our new partner China Road and Bridge Corporation took on the challenge," Ignacio was quoted as saying.
CIC said that CRBC — a firm that focuses on global civil engineering and construction projects such as roads, bridges, ports, tunnels, railways, municipal works, dredging, and airports — has been in the Philippines for almost 30 years and has done numerous projects in different regions such as the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) Phase 1 Package 2 as well as the Estrella-Pantaleon and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in the National Capital Region.
The second phase of the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 construction is set to start within the first quarter of the year. Per CIC, the aforementioned portion is eyed to be open to the public before yearend of 2023.
Relatedly, the construction of Segment 3-B from Sucat to E. Rodriguez (RSG Subdivision), is set to begin in the third quarter of the year — based on CIC’s latest project timeline.
A 7.7-kilometer expressway, the Cavitex C5 Link project will interconnect Cavitex R1 to C5 Road in Taguig. It is expected to serve 40,000 vehicles per day: reducing travel time to Makati and Taguig from Parañaque City, Las Pinas City, and Cavite Province by 45 minutes; and decongesting traffic in Metro Manila.
