Per DPWH, the completed road projects along JASA (which cost P69.25 million) are part of its asset preservation and preventive maintenance program to prevent road deterioration and other inconveniences.

Tolentino said that the asphalt overlaying projects were conducted from March-May 2023 that immediately ensured the unhampered delivery of goods and services to the general public.

JASA, also known as Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road, serves as a major highway connecting the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Zambales.

To further guarantee improved mobility in the area, DPWH Nueva Ecija Second District Engineering Office (DEO) is also fast-tracking other road preventive maintenance projects that aim to repair 1.9 kilometers of JASA section in Barangay San Roque to Barangay Sto. Cristo in San Isidro and 1.7 kilometers of Daang Maharlika section in Barangay Sto. Cristo Norte and Barangay Bayanihan in Gapan City costing P90.39 million and P57.59 million, respectively.

Further, the public works department noted that the projects are all funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2023.
