Changan adds Uni models in PH lineup

Fresh from unveiling the CS55 Plus last month, Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) is ending 2022 on a high note by introducing two new models to expand its crossover roster: the Uni-T and Uni-K.

Revealed during the inauguration of the CMPI National Headquarters, CMPI said that the unveiling of the two models is to “set a bold new standard for lifestyle crossovers.”

Exterior

The Changan Uni-T wears the “Vision V” design language as reflected on the diamond-shaped borderless front grille and the V-shaped rear spoiler integrated with its extra-large panoramic glass roof.

On the other hand, the Changan Uni-K sports a different iteration of the brand’s signature borderless grille with hexagonal grille pattern complemented by the Trident daytime running lights, starship headlights, airship-shape rear spoiler. It sits on 21-inch alloy wheels.

The hidden door handles add to the vehicles’ overall streamlined look and  automatically pop out when the keys are on hand.

Interior

Inside the cabin are very inviting amenities.

The new generation technology smart cockpit in the Uni-K has a smart quadruple-screen interactive layout (3+1). The LCD digital instrument cluster comprises three parts: the left section displays tire pressure and door conditions; the middle section shows vehicle speed, augmented reality real-view navigation, multimedia interface and vehicle status; and the right section comprises a digital rear-view mirror, tachometer, and fuel gauge. In addition, the intelligent infotainment screen design with ultra-wide angle, high-resolution and adaptive backlight controls effectively prevent eye fatigue while driving.

 

Powertrain

The recently-introduced models do not come short on power.

The Changan Uni-T’s 1.5-liter Blue Core turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDi) engine matched to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) can deliver a peak churn of 176 horsepower (hp) and 300Nm of torque. The more powerful Uni-K — equipped with a 2.0-liter Changan Blue Core TGDi mill mated to an eight-speed shift-by-wire automatic transmission — can provide as much as nearly 229hp and 390Nm of torque.

Changan Uni-T’s power mill offers three drive modes (normal, eco, and sport) while the Uni-K has options for two-wheel drive, automatic, and four-wheel drive (4WD) lock with an all-wheel drive switch button that adjusts the vehicle’s response to effectively navigate various road conditions.

Technology

CMPI’s newly-launched vehicles are loaded with technological conveniences to fit the needs of a modern driver.

The aforementioned models have a voice control function that can open or close windows, operate the radio and the automatic air conditioner, and make or receive calls.

The Changan Uni models boast a premium Sony sound system—six speakers for Uni-T and 12 speakers with subwoofer for the Uni-K.

Changan’s Uni-T offering has the Auto Parking Assist (APA) system that can be activated to automatically complete a rear parking maneuver, hands-free. Meanwhile, Changan Uni-K comes with an electric tailgate with an induction sensor that lets owners open the cargo door hands-free when it senses a foot under the rear bumper.

Moreover, the Changan Uni models also guarantee safety as they are fitted with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that, CMPI noted, can achieve Level 2 autonomous as well as active safety features that include blind spot detection warning that triggers visual and audio alerts for rear side warning, door opening and lateral warnings; lane keep assist; automated emergency braking; integrated adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, and electronic stability control; lane departure warning; front collision warning; rear cross traffic alert, among others.

Below are the prices for the new Changan models:

• Uni-T: P1.679 million
• Uni-K: P2.719 million
