The Chinese vehicle manufacturer was able to distribute 2.3 million examples around the world. What are the Changan models that are available in the Philippines?
These are the Alsvin, CS35 Plus, CS75 Plus, CS95, and Eado EV460.CMPI said in a statement that in 2021, Changan International Corporation (CIC) joined the list of top 15 carmakers globally after selling 2.3 million examples to buyers.
CMPI noted that in the first two months of 2022, the brand ranked first among China’s top 10 homegrown vehicle marques in terms of passenger car sales after rolling out “.22-million of the 1.6-million units" to customers in China alone. For its overall domestic sales, Changan came second place after delivering “.33-million of the 2.2-million” examples to clients for the same period.
The aforementioned achievements, the country's distributor said, reflects the growing customer satisfaction with the brand.
Changan topped the 2021 JD Power China New Vehicle Initial Quality Study (IQS) across all other Chinese brands (the second time that the brand received the accolade) and is at seventh place among mainstream joint venture global brands.
To note, CIC received the same recognition at the JD Power IQS in 2018 .
Back in 2017, CIC was cited by the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Defective Products Management Center for enjoying the lowest ratio of customer complaints among the country’s joint venture and imported auto brands.
Relatedly, CMPI said that CIC allots around five percent of its annual sales revenue to research and development and has established a global network that spans four continents with an 80,000-strong manpower from 18 countries.
The company has four centers in China for vehicle engineering led by the 666,667-square-meter global research and development center in Chongquing; interior design in Yokohama, Japan; exterior styling in Turin, Italy; advanced engine design office in Birmingham, United Kingdom; and chassis design and autonomous driving technologies in Detroit, USA.
CMPI said that CIC is one of the pioneers in the mass production of electric vehicles in China.
“China brand vehicles are improving in reputation, quality, and eco-friendliness by leaps and bounds — around 10 percent every year,” CMPI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez Agudo was quoted as saying.
“And we are proud of having brought Changan into the country — a formidable contender that is already making waves especially among young, upward-moving Filipinos with an appetite for affordable, value-laden lifestyle vehicles.”
The brand was introduced to the country last year and the company holding its distributorship immediately launched five of the brand’s top-sellers: the Alsvin subcompact sedan, the CS35 Plus subcompact crossover, the CS75 Plus compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), the seven-seater CS95, and the fully-electric Eado EV460.
Recently, CMPI unveiled the new Changan CS35 Plus.
The lineup is expected to grace the 2022 Manila International Auto Show on April 7-10.
