Changan Auto PH to launch Hunter REEV at 9th PIMS

Changan Auto Philippines (CAP) will unveil the latest addition — most likely the Hunter REEV (range extended electric vehicle) — at the upcoming 9th Philippine International Motor Show.

Such a guess is based on the social media posts at the Changan Auto PH and CAMPI Philippine International Motor Show Facebook pages showing a clear outline of a pick-up truck.

“Incredible Power, Extended. Come by and see the world’s first for yourself,” Changan Auto PH stated on its Facebook page.

Earlier, Carmudi Philippines reported that the Changan Hunter REEV form part of the Department of Energy (DOE)’s list of recognized plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the country.

Size, exterior

While waiting for the Inchcape-led distributor to release its official specifications and pricing, here are some bits of information that we have learned about the vehicle.

Based on the documents submitted to the energy department, the Changan Hunter REEV (which is the 4x4 Knights Version) is 5,630 millimeters (mm) long; 1,930 mm wide; and 1,885 mm tall.

Its overall sporty design is made up of the aggressive-looking fascia that houses rectangular LED head- and fog lamps, black claddings on the front bumper, wheel wells, and sports bar, as well as piano-black grille and chrome door handles.

Powertrain

The said offering — said to be first REEV pick-up truck globally— pick-up truck’s mill will likely be an electric motor that gets energy from its gasoline engine or by a charging outlet (in GBT and Type 2 connectors).

Such a powertrain set-up (which also comes with a 31.18 kilowatt-hour ferrous lithium phosphate battery), can provide a peak churn of 268 horses and 470 Newton-meters of torque and 77 kilometers per liter.
