Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) introduced the all-electric Eado EV460 in November of 2020. The electrified sedan was one of the brand’s first five offerings in the Philippines which included the Alsvin, the CS35 Plus, the CS75 Plus, and the CS95.
After being launched in the local automotive scene a few years back, the Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer believes that it’s high time that the Changan Eado EV460 makes its mark in the country as more and more Filipinos are now welcoming the idea of an electrified ride.
Reinforcing CMPI’s hold in the Philippine EV segment, the Eado EV460 will make a timely appearance at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) happening from April 7 to 10 at the World Trade Center, in Pasay City.
The Changan Eado EV460 brings with it an impressive resume. Filipino car buyers looking to switch from traditional vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines to ones fitted with electrified powertrains would not be disappointed with the Chongqing-based automaker’s locally offered EV.
According to CMPI, the Eado EV460 was named China’s “greenest vehicle” and “Model of the Year” at the China Green Car Annual Awards (2018). In 2012, the Changan Eado EV460’s predecessor was awarded a five-star safety rating at the China New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) where it beat six other locally produced EVs at that time.
The Eado EV460 is fitted with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) powered by a Ternary (lithium-ion) battery. This setup allows the EV sedan to produce decent power and makes around 134 horses with 245Nm of electrified torque.
Filipino car buyers concerned about charging time need not worry as the Changan Eado EV460 can be fully charged in just eight hours and if you’re in a hurry, can be juiced from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
In terms of range, CMPI says that the Eado EV460 — per the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) — boasts a cruising range of 430 to 550 kilometers while running at around 60kph.
At a glance, the Changan Eado EV460 looks every bit a modern sedan: a sturdy, well-built, simple yet dynamic body design; classy interiors with plush leather seats; air conditioning with a sleek mono digital display; cruise control that lets you lock on to your desired speed; a seven-inch digital instrument cluster; an audio system with a 10-inch high-definition touchscreen for cutting edge infotainment and real-time monitoring of your car’s charging state; onboard connectivity (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi); and a sunroof.
Safety-wise, the Eado EV460 features six airbags, a smart key with an illuminated push start/stop button, ABS, electronic stability control, brake assist, a traction control system, hill hold control, an emergency stop signal, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX tethers for when you’re driving with the kids, child safety locks, seatbelt reminders for the driver and front passenger, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The Eado EV460 is currently available in all Changan dealerships nationwide and is priced at P1,828,000.
