Changan Motor Philippines Inc. (CMPI) has officially launched the all-new CS55 Plus sport utility vehicle.
The unveiling came after numerous hints that the company posted over its official social media page.
Seemingly a larger version of the already-available CS35 Plus, the new Changan CS55 Plus offers more than just bigger space.
The front fascia sports ring-shaped daytime running lights (DRL) as well as the full LED headlamps (equipped with Intelligent High Beam Assist and Follow-Me-Home Delay feature). The headlights flank the parametric-inspired latticework on the grille.
The ring treatment is also seen at the taillamps, high-mount stop lamp and 19-inch alloy wheels, complementing the chrome tip dual exhaust design.
The driver is welcomed by the D-shape steering wheel that houses buttons for cruise control, audio, and other key functions; the 10.25-inch LCD digital instrument cluster; and the 12.3-inch touch display infotainment system with smartphone Mirror Link function and Apple Carplay. The audio system is mated to a six-speaker Pioneer sound system.
Vehicle occupants are bound to enjoy the bi-color seats, 29 storage places, and luggage space that can extend from 475 liters to 1,415 liter (if the seats are folded).
Powering the all-new Changan CS55 Plus is the brand’s 1.5-liter Blue Core turbocharged gasoline direct inject (TGDi) engine that has the capability to deliver as much as 185 horsepower and 300Nm of torque.
The mill is matched to the Changan Blue Core seven-speed, wet-type shift-by-wire, Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) system. Drivers can choose between the three drive modes (Normal, Eco, or Sport) to suit their driving style.
Further, the Changan CS55 Plus is not short on cozy features. Among them are the 15-watt wireless mobile charging console and a pair of USB ports at the rear; a remote power tailgate with electric control that has anti-pinch feature and memory height setting; a panoramic sunroof space with anti-pinch feature and rain-sensing close function, as well as a voice control feature that can direct the vehicle to open or close the windows and sunroof, switch on the air-conditioning system, and pick up calls.
Since the brand is a combination of two Chinese words that in English, translate to “lasting safety”, the all-new Changan CS55 is also rich in safety technologies.
About 60 percent of the vehicle’s frame is made up of lightweight yet high-strength steel to ensure utmost protection to its passengers while guaranteeing better fuel efficiency.
Moreover, the Changan Safe-tech System in the all-new CS55 Plus has a host of Smart Active Safety Assistance features such as the automatic emergency brake with city/inter-urban and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, electronic stability program with roll-over mitigation, and dynamic brake function.
Further, new model has up to six airbags, anti-brakelock system with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, brake assist, hill hold control and hill descent control, a rear parking sensor that dishes out visual and audible warning and a 360-degree panoramic camera with high-definition driving recorder system.
Other thoughtful inclusion include the automatic door lock, keyless start and entry, immobilizer, find car feature, key monitoring function, tire pressure monitoring system the and ISOFIX latches.
Packaged with a five-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty, the all-new Changan CS55 Plus comes in four body colors namely Black Pearl, Fantasy Gray, White Knight, and SuperNova Red.
