In March,
Ford Philippines announced that the
cost of ownership of the
Ford EcoSport,
Ford Everest, and
Ford Ranger will go down by as much as 20 percent come April as it rolls out its new Scheduled Maintenance Service package. Well, Ford Philippines has finally released it and you can now see for yourself--ahead of time and without going to a dealership--how much it will cost to have the American carmaker's three best-selling models serviced under the said package.
In the new Basic Periodic Maintenance Schedule Package, the engine oil, oil filter, engine air filter, and gasket drain plug are replaced regularly
every 10,000 kilometers for both the
Ford Everest and
Ford Ranger. At every,
20,000-km intervals, the pollen filter and fuel filter are replaced as well while the brake fluid is replaced every
40,000-kilometer intervals. Finally, the transmission fluid for both manual- and automatic-equipped models, the rear differential fluid, the engine coolant, and the front differential fluid for 4x4 models, are changed at every
200,000-km intervals.
As for the cost, it ranges from
PHP8,020 (parts and labor, VAT-inclusive) for the first 10,000km service for the 2.2-liter Ford Ranger MT 4x2 to
PHP19,900 for every 40,000km service interval for the 3.2-liter Ford Everest AT 4x4.
For the
Ford EcoSport, only the engine oil and oil filter are replaced at every
10,000-km intervals at a cost of only
PHP2,190 for the first service interval. At every
20,000-km intervals, the pollen filter and fuel filter are replaced as well while the brake fluid, spark plugs, and engine air filter are changed
every 40,000 kilometers at
PHP12,880. Surprisingly, the cost is the same for both the 1.5-liter five-speed MT and the six-speed PowerShift variants. Additionally, the engine coolant is replaced
every 150,000 kilometers while the transmission fluid is "filled...for life."
As Ford Philippines Managing Director
Bertrand Lessard pointed out when the carmaker announced its new Cost of Ownership Scheduled Maintenance Service package, while the invoice of a Ford vehicle undergoing its scheduled maintenance service may be more expensive than that of a similar vehicle from another car brand, it has to be pointed out that Ford's vehicles only have to do undergo the process
twice a year while other brands need to do it twice as much or
four times a year.
"When you compare the invoice for a basic lube and filter, you look at that and you say ‘Well, that’s a bit more expensive,’ that’s why we reduced it by 17 percent," Lessard told
Carmudi.com.ph then. "But also, which is important, people don't realize that when you buy a Ford, you only have to go
twice a year or
after 10,000 kilometers but with a lot of competitors, which I won't name, you have to go four times. This is a big benefit to our customers and it takes time to change that perception because on a day-to-day basis, you compare the invoices. You don't realize that you only go twice versus four times."
