Hero Motocorp has formally made its way into the Philippine motorcycle industry recently, marking the arrival of yet another hopeful Indian bike brand looking to take a portion of the market dominated by Japanese and Chinese marques.

The company entered the Philippines through Terrafirma Motors Corporation, which is under the Columbian Autocar Group.

Relatedly, Hero Motocorp’s arrival also heralds the brand’s entry into the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, which made its recently held brand launch in Laguna a little more significant.

To help Filipino motorcycle buyers make an informed decision when deciding to invest in the Hero Motocorp brand, here’s a quick look at its maiden three-bike lineup.

XPulse 200 4V

The Hero XPulse 200 4V is powered by a 199.6 cubic centimeter (cc) engine paired with a five-speed constant mesh transmission, which makes 18.9 horsepower (hp) with 17.35 newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

The adventure bike is built on a diamond-type frame chassis with a 13-liter fuel tank and is supported by telescopic front forks (with anti-friction brush) at the front and a rectangular swingarm with a 10-step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear.

It uses a 21-inch wheel at the front shod in 90/90 series tires, while the rear gets an 18-inch wheel with chunkier 120/80 rubber. Petal-style disc brakes are installed front and back.

Other notable features include an LED headlamp and a full digital LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation.

Hunk 160R 4V

The Hero Hunk 160R 4V packs a 163.2 cc engine with a five-speed constant mesh transmission, which dishes out some 16.6 hp with 14.6 Nm of pulling power.

It uses a tubular underbone diamond-type frame that holds a fuel tank with a 12-liter capacity. When it comes to its suspension, the naked bike packs a standard telescopic front fork (KYB-branded upside-down suspension for top-of-the-line variant) and a seven-step adjustable rear monoshock.

It rides on 17-inch wheels shod in 100/80 series tires at the front and 130/70 series tires at the rear. Deceleration and halts are facilitated by petal-style disc brakes.

Notably, it comes with an inverted LCD instrument panel, spit-type seats, all-LED lighting, and a sporty exhaust.

Xoom 110

The Hero Xoom 110 is propelled by a 110 cc engine with a continuously variable transmission. The said setup puts out 8.05 horses with 8.70 Nm.

It gets telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front with a unit swing with springloaded hydraulic dampers at the rear.

It is slapped with a pair of 12-inch wheels with 90/90 series tires — front and back. It also gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

The Xoom 110 offers a digital instrument gauge with Bluetooth connectivity, SMS alert, and caller ID.
