It’s been nearly a week since the 11th-generation Civic was officially launched in the Land of the Smiles. On that note, Honda Thailand shares the specs of the ASEAN iteration of the all-new Honda Civic.
“I am confident that the new 11th generation Honda Civic will upgrade the compact sedan to be superior to all models with a premium sport design combining powerful driving performance and fuel efficiency with VTEC turbo power and intelligent safety technology Honda Sensing in all sub-models to create a new legend as a premium sports sedan that everyone has been waiting for,” said Honda Automobile (Thailand) CEO, Noriyuki Takakura.
Its exterior features represent Honda’s new standard in its premium sports sedan offerings. The front fascia showcases a slim horizontal grille coupled with relatively thin headlamps. Below are a pair of fog lamps flanking the Civic’s bumper.
There’s not much going on the side except for the 16-inch alloy wheels.
At the rear are LED taillights and a single exhaust pipe.
Honda Thailand also offers an RS trim which adds “RS” badges all over the Civic, black side mirrors, black door handles, a black shark fin antenna, a black rear spoiler, and dual exhaust pipes.
Honda Thailand will also offer four accessory packages including the Exhaust Pipe Finisher Package, Sport Package, Exclusive Sport Package, and Modulo Aero Package.
Overall, the standard Honda Civic model looks like a decent premium sports sedan that leans more toward the look of luxury, making it a viable option for Thai car buyers looking for something more than the average daily driver.
Inside, the all-new Civic can be had in either gray-beige or black (depending on the body color) with seats that come in either fabric, a mix of genuine leather and synthetic leather, or suede and synthetic leather depending on the trim level.
In addition, the Thai-spec Civic comes with a seven-inch infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay. A nine-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility can be had with the RS model.
Other convenience features include an engine start system with air-conditioning with remote key (Remote Engine Start), an intelligent engine start system (One Push Ignition System), automatic front electric windows, a four-way adjustable steering wheel, front map reading light, and luggage compartment lighting, all of which are made standard across the board.
In terms of safety, all models are equipped with the Honda Sensing intelligent safety technology which includes, collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), variable cruise control, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation system with lane departure warning, and auto high-beam.
Power will come from Honda’s new 1.5-liter four-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC VTEC turbo engine mated to a continuous variable-ratio automatic transmission. This powertrain setup gives the all-new Civic 178 horsepower and a maximum torque of 240Nm.
The Thai-spec Civic features three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport (available only in RS variant).
The all-new Honda Civic is available in Thailand in three variants which include the EL, EL+, and RS.
“The Honda Civic is the longest-running vehicle since 1972. Over the course of nearly 50 years, it has been constantly developing and setting new standards in every generation. It has been recognized and trusted by customers around the world with sales of more than 27 million vehicles in more than 170 countries and today Thailand. Be the first country outside North America to launch the new 11th Gen Honda Civic Sedan as a market with great potential. It is also an important production base in Asia and Oceania,” said Honda Regional Operations for Asia and Oceania Chairman and CEO, Masayuki Ingarashi.
