Checking out the 3 variants of the Maxus G50 MPV

The Maxus G50 is the brand’s entry to the local MPV segment which looks to shake things up in the multi-purpose vehicle category. Maxus’ eight-seater crowd carrier will be going against segment staples like the Toyota Avanza, Mitsubishi Xpander, and the Suzuki Ertiga.

Now, to make sure the G50 is equipped to compete with the big boys, Maxus packed its MPV with a powerful engine. Across the board, all of the G50’s three variants — the G50 Premium, G50 Elite, and G50 Pro — are fitted with a four-cylinder, in-line, turbocharged and intercooled direct-injection Euro 6-compliant gasoline engine. It is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which puts out a decent 166 horses and 250Nm of torque.

Stopping power is provided by disc brakes front and rear which are partnered with MacPhersons at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear.
