Chevrolet bares details of 2024 Equinox EV

Chevrolet has revealed the details of the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox electric vehicle (EV) — an affordable all-electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) tailored to help modern families make a seamless, confident, and uncompromising transition to EVs.

“Chevrolet is now positioned to offer a wide array of EVs. We know truck and SUV customers better than anyone and we’ve channeled that insight and experience into our new EVs,” commented Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell.

At a glance, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox boasts sleek lines and sporty proportions thanks to General Motors’ (GM) Ultium Platform. Advanced exterior appointments include innovative walk-up lighting with front and rear lighting animation, a unique light bar, a presence-based liftgate, and wheels that come in 19, 20, and 21 inches.

Inside, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV features a streamlined and modern cabin. The interior can be optioned with personalized ambient lighting and a smart infotainment system. Other interior amenities include heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and even a heated windshield wiper park feature, which helps keep the area around the wipers clear of ice buildup.

“We are at a turning point where EVs will be the mainstream choice for the next generation of customers and Equinox EV will lead this charge for us. With the flexibility of GM’s Ultium Platform, we are bringing to market vehicles at nearly every price point and for every purpose,” said General Motors Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mary Barra.

One factor that makes fuel-powered vehicle owners anxious about driving EVs is range. That said, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV would provide would-be owners access to convenient route planning apps that help locate and plot routes to charging stations. Customers will also have access to Ultium Charge 360, GM’s holistic approach to EV charging.

Safety-wise, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV come with a host of features like the Chevy Safety Assist suite which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.

Other standard safety features include Rear Park Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking, Safety Alert Seat, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

Available driver assistance technologies include Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, a Head-Up Display, and a Rear Camera Mirror. Additionally, Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology is also available.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV can make anywhere from 210 to 290 horsepower (hp) depending on whether it will be optioned with a standard front-wheel-drive system or with the eAWD system.

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox will be offered in four trims in the US: 1LT, 2LT, 2RS, and 3LT. It will have a starting price of US$30,000 (P1.7 million) and is expected to be available in the final quarter of 2023.
