Chevrolet shared a few details about its highly-anticipated mid-engine supercar — the Corvette Z06.
According to the American carmaker in a release, the Z06 symbolizes the perfect combination of track beast and supercar.
“Corvette has always brought a discerning customer to the Chevy family. This new Z06 was designed and engineered to set a higher bar with increased levels of craftsmanship, personalization, and performance so customers can truly have their own bespoke performance car,” commented Chevrolet VP Steve Hill.
As many of us have guessed, Chevy confirms that the Corvette Z06 will pack a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V-8. The carmaker says that it produces 670 horses and 623Nm of almost instantaneous torque.
Moreover, the naturally aspirated power plant features aluminum cylinder block casting, an all-new dual overhead camshaft cylinder head design, titanium intake and sodium-filled exhaust valves, forged aluminum pistons and forged titanium connecting rods, an active split intake manifold, and a six-stage dry-sump oiling system.
In addition, Chevrolet shares that the Corvette Z06 is equipped with track-proven performance technologies like launch control, active handling, traction control, performance traction management, and electronic LSD.
“Racing was the reason the Z06 was developed in 1963, and it continues to support the development of the road models that make them better on the street and the track,” said Corvette Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter.
“Virtually every component that distinguishes the Z06 was developed to support or enhance its capability,” he added.
Outside, the Z06 is fitted with a front fascia designed to optimize the Z06’s cooling needs, a unique reconfigurable rear spoiler with adjustable wickerbill elements, and 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged aluminum “spider” wheels.
Inside, the Corvette Z06 features a driver-focused cockpit lined with premium materials emanating a luxurious look.
Meanwhile, customers looking to get more from Chevy’s supercar can get the Z07 Performance Package which adds a larger front splitter, front-corner dive planes, a rear wing, and underbody strakes that enhance downforce.
It also comes with a unique FE7 suspension with specific Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 calibrations, Michelin Sport Cup 2 R ZP tires (developed specifically for the Z06), a Brembo carbon-ceramic brake system, and lightweight carbon fiber wheels.
Further details are to be revealed as the Corvette Z06 nears its release date.
