Chevrolet has unveiled an electrified version of Corvette with all-wheel-drive (AWD).
Dubbed as the 2024 E-Ray, the American automotive brand said that vehicle is powered by a 6.2-liter LT2 Small Block V-8 and an accompanying electric motor. Its internal combustion engine produces as much as 495 horsepower (hp), sent to the rear wheels, while the electric motor with 1.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack channels an additional 160hp to the front wheel axle.
In total, the 2024 E-Ray generates a maximum power output of around 655 horses.
“Corvette has been a halo for Chevrolet since 1953. E-Ray’s unprecedented blend of confidence, luxury performance, sophistication, and style provides a new reason for more people to experience Corvette,” said Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell.
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is also equipped with an intelligent electric all-wheel-drive system (eAWD). Chevrolet said that it constantly learns the road surface, seamlessly adapting to meet traction conditions and driver needs.
During spirited driving and in low traction environments, E-Ray’s eAWD system applies additional power to the front wheels, helping to enhance vehicle stability.
The dynamic features are reflected in the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray’s styling. Highlights include four aluminum wheel finishes, an E-Ray-exclusive body-length stripe package in Electric Blue, standard carbon flash badging, available black exhaust tips and bright badging, and available carbon fiber ground effects.
It will be available in 14 exterior color choices.
The 2024 Corvette E-Ray goes on sale in the United States (US) this year. Production, said the Golden Bowtie brand, is to take place at General Motor’s (GM) Bowling Green Assembly facility in Kentucky.
