Chevrolet's first all-electric crossover is the Blazer

Chevrolet has expanded its electric vehicle offerings with the official unveiling of the 2024 Blazer EV.

In a statement, the Golden Bowtie marque said that the launch of its midsize electric crossover offering is set to make EV ownership more accessible.

Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell said that the 2024 Blazer EV features “options and intuitive technologies that help position Chevy for leadership in one of the fastest-growing EV segments.”

“Along with the all-new Silverado EV and Equinox EV coming next year, we are making great strides in offering more choices for zero tailpipe-emissions vehicles — choices that make switching to an EV easier than ever,” he said.

It can be recalled that the sport utility vehicle's (SUV) internal combustion engine-powered version had its update last February.

The company noted that the newly-unveiled SUV is based on General Motors’ (GM) Ultium Platform “with athletic styling that elevates the heralded design established in 2018 by the gas-powered Chevrolet Blazer, and performance cues inspired by the Camaro and Corvette.”

Coming in 1LT, 2LT, RS and SS performance trims  (along with a Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) model), Chevrolet Design Executive Director Phil Zak said that the 2024 Blazer EV’s styling “evokes the same sort of emotional response as Chevy’s performance cars.”

“There’s true SUV functionality, but inside and out, it has the sort of passionate proportions and feel that make you want to slide behind the wheel and explore what’s beyond the horizon. It’s a vehicle that looks great from every angle and beckons you to drive.”

To easily distinguish the variants from each other, the LT has a monochromatic appearance and sits on 19-inch wheels, RS wears black accents and is fitted with 21-inch wheels, and the SS sports a dual-tone color scheme with 22-inch wheels.

Further, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has a dual-element LED exterior lighting signature with choreographed lighting sequences, which activate when the driver approaches or walks away. Aside from that, the front lighting displays a sequential orchestration to convey that the vehicle is charging.

For its interior, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV comes with a 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen and an 11-inch-diagonal color Driver Information Center in the instrument cluster. It also has a flat-bottom steering wheel for the RS and SS trims and turbine-inspired vents too.

Moreover, the vehicle’s RS and SS variations have the following: standard ambient lighting with personalization function, heated and ventilated front seats, along with heated rear outboard seating positions (standard on SS and optional on RS).

The top-of-the-line variant features an all-wheel-drive propulsion configuration that can deliver up to 557hp and 878.5 Nm of torque. With a driving range of nearly 499 kilometers (GM-estimate, depending on the variation), the vehicle has a 11.5-kilowatt (kW) Level 2 (AC) charging and standard DC public fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW.

Furthermore, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has a host of advanced technologies like the hands-free start (driver needs to push brake pedal and close the door to start the vehicle when the key fob is inside the cabin), powered-opening charge port door, regenerative braking with one pedal driving, available presence-based liftgate, and Super Cruise (compatible for roads in the United States and Canada).

To add, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is also equipped with reverse automatic braking, advanced park assist that goes well with the standard automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning and IntelliBeam.

To go on sale next year, the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV 2LT and RS will be priced at $47,595 (around P2.678 million) and $51,995 (P2.925 million) respectively. The SS trim will be released at a later date for $65,995 (P3.713 million) followed by the 1LT for $44,995 (P2.531 million) and PPV fleet model that are to be available in the first quarter of 2024.

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will be produced at GM’s Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, production facility — the same factory that manufactures the current Blazer.
