Confirmed: 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 is Most Powerful Ford Ever Made
The final numbers are in, and it looks like the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be more powerful than previously advertised. While past reports say that the new engine maxes out at 700 hp, latest info now say that it will deliver 760 hp and 847 Nm of torque.
This easily dwarfs the last GT500’s 662 hp engine, as well as the GT's turbocharged V6, which churns out a mere 647 hp.
It also puts to shame the likes of the Chevy Camaro ZL1, Chevy Corvette ZR1, and Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
Even exotic cars such as the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Ferrari F8 Tributo, and Lamborghini Aventador SVJ can't muster that much power.
Ford says its latest muscle car isn't all about brute force--it should also be lighter, with advanced suspension designed to make mincemeat out of the most challenging road racing tracks.
Other astounding capabilities include a dual-clutch transmission that shifts gears under 100 milliseconds, an aerodynamic design that can produce 250 kgs of downforce, and a quarter-mile time of under 11 seconds.
Pricing for the GT500 has not been announced, but now that Ford has revealed its performance numbers, pricing should follow soon.
