CortDAO has a link on its website that leads to a page where one can purchase an NFT.CortDAO now has a team in W Series, the world's first free-to-enter single-seater motor racing championship for women. The CortDAO Racing W Series Team has a strong roster that includes Spanish driver Marta Garcia (first picture below) and Liechtensteiner Fabienne Wohlwend (second picture below).
Both drivers are no strangers to racing as Garcia previously won in Norisring in the fourth round of the W Series in 2019 while Wohlwend has a Ferrari World Finals title (in Monza 2018) and W Series podium in Misano 2019 under her belt.
Despite their experiences, both Garcia and Wohlwend face tough competition from a pool of extraordinary talents including our kababayan, and a native of Laguna, Bianca Bustamante.
On June 30, CortDAO launched an NFT initiative to further its support for women in motorsports.
A total of 10,000 NFTs depicting two bespoke CortDAO Racing assets (5,000 NFTs of each design with a unique identifier from one to 5,000) have been issued. The two designs, created by Team Quantum Punks, are 3D virtual depictions of the limited-edition racing helmets of team drivers Garcia and Fabienne Wohlwend.
“Sponsorship is hard. Motorsport is expensive. We love the enthusiasm from the fans, with me being one and always wanted to know if we could crowdfund a team while bringing in supporters closer to the action. Hence was born the ‘community owned racing team’ and the desire to build a community of fans that believe in women in motorsport,” Livingston told Carmudi Philippines in an exclusive interview with the CortDAO Founder.
“The first NFT was to get everyone comfortable that we are genuine and we will do more in the future. This NFT was unique because we will engage with these supporters in the coming weeks and the proceeds from the sales will go to W Series directly (one-third for the drives for Marta and Fabienne, and two-thirds as equity in W Series),” explained Livingston.
“Web3 and blockchain technology allows for the transactions to be transparent and relatively low cost. If we can build traction we will be doing more across various platforms showcasing women's abilities in motorsport,” he added.
Those interested to purchase CotrDAO NFTs can head on to their website.
CortDAO plans to continue to support women in motorsports, specifically in W Series.
“Up until now this project has been funded by myself, now a wider community has a chance to be a part of it,” Livingston said.
The team appeals to the Web3 community and the growing women’s motorsports fanbase.
To help them better support females in motorsports, CortDAO is now selling team merch such as official team caps and a cool reversible bucket hat.
CortDAO Racing drivers also have a crypto account and have been paid for various things in Ethereum. They also had some driving sessions with Rob Wilson, a world-renowned driving coach. Plus, they got to do two days of track time at Paul Ricard, a race track in France.
Probably the most exciting thing CortDAO members can look forward to are the newly-designed helmets, which — according to Livingston — community members will get the chance to own at the end of the season.
Watching female drivers are as exciting as watching their male counterparts. We, at Carmudi Philippines, are excited to see what the future has in store for CortDAO racing and for the wonderful women in motorsports.
