Bentley Americas, the US arm of the British luxury car brand, announced its collaboration with SagerStrong Foundation to create a bespoke, one-off Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible inspired by iconic sports reporter, Craig Sager.
Sager was known not only for his stint as an NBA sideline reporter but also for his stand-out style. On that note, Bentley designers delved into the passion project with a thoughtful approach; to merge Craig’s legacy and his flare with one of the most beautiful and powerful grand tourers in the world.
“Our interpretation of ‘clothing’ the Continental GT Speed Convertible in something Craig would have worn honors him and his vibrant, enduringly positive, and uplifting spirit. It’s our aspiration that further enhancing this car with the signatures of Craig’s family, both on and off the court, will create an iconic piece of rolling memorabilia: a lighthouse of hope for those that knew and loved Craig,” said Bentley Motors Retail Marketing Manager Scott Reynolds.
The Craig Sager-inspired Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible builds upon the features of the luxurious grand tourer. Most notably, its 6.0-liter W12 TSI engine, that delivers a little under 650 horsepower taking it from standstill to 60mph in only 3.6 seconds. Speed of the Continental GT Speed Convertible peaks at 208mph.
Style-wise, the bespoke model takes after Sager’s flair. Outside is a stylish rose pattern, taken from his last television appearance, his speech during the 2016 ESPYs when he accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award.
On the other hand, the interior of Sager’s bespoke Continental GT Speed Convertible dons embroidered headrests — allowing him to sign, posthumously.
The customized Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is scheduled to go under the hammer next year. Proceeds from the auction will benefit SagerStrong Foundation’s fight against blood cancer.
Stacy Sager, the continued driving force behind the SagerStrong Foundation, worked together with Bentley to bring this car to life to represent Craig’s spirit in every stitch.
“Craig had a deep-rooted passion for craftsmanship, it was reflected in the suits he had tailored and the cars he chose to drive. If he were here today, he would be driving the family around, top-down, smiling ear to ear in this perfect representation of his beautiful and powerful spirit,” Stacy Sager commented.
