Dodge has unveiled the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown, a car that pays tribute to the original Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept (picture below) shown at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.
According to the American automotive brand, the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown will be the first of the seven “Last Call” special-edition models that will be unboxed this year. The “Last-Call” models celebrate the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger, which in their current form are coming to an end.
Per the Stellantis-owned company, the special-edition 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown follows the original’s theme of a black-and-red interior and exterior that fuses a modern and vintage feel.
Notable exterior appointments on the special-edition Dodge Challenger Shakedown include the legendary cold-air-grabbing Mopar Shaker hood; a Mopar Shaker intake, red “392” fender graphics; a “Shakedown” spoiler graphic; “Shakedown” stripe with red accent that flows from the hood, roof, and rear; a “Shaker” underhood decal; a black “Challenger” grille badge; a unique R/T grille badge; 20-by-9.5-inch Low Gloss Black Slingshot wheels; 20-by-11-inch Carbon Black Warp Speed wheels (available for the Widebody trim); and red six-piston Brembo brakes.
Like all 2023 Dodge Challenger and Charger models, Dodge Challenger Shakedown vehicles will carry a commemorative “Last Call” underhood plaque.
Inside the cabin is a “Shakedown” instrument panel (IP) badge; premium Black Nappa/Alcantara seats with red stitching; red interior accent stitching on IP, console, steering wheel, and seats; as well as Demonic Red seatbelts.
The Michigan-based auto firm said that only 1,000 special-edition models are planned for production: 500 Dodge Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack (in Destroyer Grey) and 500 Challenger Shakedown R/T Scat Pack Widebody (in Pitch Black) vehicles will be produced.
The Dodge Challenger Shakedown models will be allocated to specific dealerships, with pricing and dealer information to be announced when vehicle ordering opens later this year.
Six special-edition Challenger and Charger models will be revealed on September 21, 2022. The seventh and final 2023 Dodge model — the very last of its kind — will be revealed at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for November 1 to 4, 2022.
“Dodge Speed Week may be over, but our brand is far from finished in shaking up the muscle car world. We’re following up Speed Week reveals of the future of electrified muscle in the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept and our first electrified vehicle in the 2023 Dodge Hornet R/T by announcing six special, commemorative-edition models in a little over a month,” said Dodge Chief Executive Officer Tim Kuniskis.
