DPWH Opens Two Road-Widening Projects to Ease Traffic in QC
Two road-widening projects in Quezon City were opened Friday, March 29, the Public Works Department announced.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) inaugurated two road-widening projects, which is the newly-rehabilitated and widened one-kilometer section of Samar Street as well as the 229-linear meter 11th Jamboree Street in Barangay South Triangle.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar led the ceremonial Inauguration.
"I'm glad to be here to witness the inauguration of these road improvement projects that can serve as an alternate route to the congested Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and benefit thousands of motorists," Villar was quoted as saying.
Villar said that the widening of the roads from two lanes to four "could ease traffic in Quezon City" as Samar Street is located in parallel with EDSA while 11th Jamboree Street links directly to EDSA.
The completed section of Samar Street starts from Timog Avenue and ends in Mother Ignacia Street while the 11th Jamboree Street project with improved drainage canals begins from Timog Avenue up to EDSA.
The road widening and improvement projects for Samar Street and Jamboree Street costs P57.87 million and P14.65 million, respectively, as per the DPWH Quezon City District Engineering Office.
