DPWH reactivates ‘Lakbay Alalay’ program

Strategically located stations — the DPWH pointed out — will be manned round-the-clock by uniformed personnel with equipment who can provide emergency services to motorists and the traveling public.
“For three days, our ‘Lakbay Alalay’ motorist assistance centers will be operational to provide prompt and reliable assistance to motorists and travelers going to visit their departed loved ones this long weekend,” noted DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
In addition, the country’s public works and highways bureau revealed that DPWH Regional and District Engineering Offices nationwide were also ordered to conduct routine maintenance along national roads — especially routes leading to public and private cemeteries and churches — prior to the holidays and the commencement of motorist assistance program.
Further, the DPWH noted that implementing offices with ongoing projects along the same routes were similarly instructed to put up proper road safety signages and traffic advisories to prevent traffic slowdown.
