KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the purpose of opening the two lanes in the Bulacan Arterial Road Bypass Project?
Per DPWH, the purpose of opening the two lanes in the arterial road is to serve more motorists who will travel for the Barangay Election and All Soul’s Day.When is the targeted completion date for the proposed opening of the two lanes?
Should there be no issues found after conducting the tasks in the puch list, the two lanes should be open in October 2023.Per the agency, the said lanes that are planned to be opened are the 7.74-kilometer widened section from Barangay Tambubong to the Philippines-Japan Friendship Highway (Daang Maharlika Highway in Barangay Maasim) — including the 318-meter (m) flyover at the intersection along Kalsadang Bago — and a 36.9-m bridge.
The forthcoming opening of the two lanes in the Bulacan Arterial Road Bypass Project will be recommended to Secretary Manuel Bonoan to serve motorists traveling in time for the anticipated long weekend for the Barangay Election and observance of traditional Undas or All Soul’s Day as well as to boost the vehicle carrying capacity of the said arterial road.
“We are pleased that the section from KO49 + 625 to KO57 + 366 undertaken by Sino Road & Bridge Group Co. Ltd is complete and punch listing by DPWH technical personnel will commence anytime to ensure safety and functionality of the newly paved road and constructed bridge and flyover,” Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain was quoted saying.
A punch list has been prepared to ensure that the completed project — particularly the flyover and bridge — is safe and ready for public use.
According to DPWH, the punch list includes checking the thoroughfare’s structural integrity by inspecting if there are any visible cracks or damage in the actual road.
The agency will also check the road surface, lighting, drainage systems, guardrails, and barriers.
The target month for the opening of the two aforementioned lanes is October 2023.
